Pink Princess i ignore what everyone else says and go with your instinct re weaning. Jack wasn't bothered until 7 months and that was me "pushing" him into it. Molly is a hungry lass and I've just had to commence with baby rice 1 day before 4 months. She is over 17 lbs though and in 6-9 clothes.
Just noticed Ruby was born exactly 1 month after Molly and their weight was the same!
Thanks to all who gave their advice re booster seats, our neighbours have lent us one for the time being so crisis averted. Wish I could stop Jack from decorating the floor with his food though. I'm doing the ignoring thing and taking it away if he gets too silly, but still annoying. He's not eating that much at the moment either. He is self feeding quite a lot but means he eats less!0 -
Thanks Bailey - When I started weaning DD1 they advised to start at 12 weeks ( shes 14 now) and she started on baby rice at 10 weeks old as she seemed hungry all the time- shes had no problems and is extremely heathly and eats anything. The rules change all the time because of new research but other people always think they know best:rotfl:19.6.10 Weight loss 6lb0

Rhys is 10 months old now and crawling really well and cruising like a pro so know it probably won't be long before her is walking unaided. We go on holiday for 10 days next Monday so want to have some fitted shoes to take with us, in case it happens while we're away.
just to say though kennedy was 10 months and cruising but didn't walk till she was 13 months!!
just got back late last night from out holidays. we had a fab time, stayed in a caravan in france. kennedy slept in a big bed for the first time and she did really well, she loved the pool, kept calling it the bath! the only problem was the food, most restraunts served chicken nuggets as the kids food and she never gets them at home, she'll have a shock this week when it's back to homemade food!0 -
Ruby has just started to get really upset when my dad holds her or even talks to her
she has seen him pretty much every day since she was born and he used to be the one she would settle for if she was upset - she starts with the petty lip which quickly turns into full screams! Not sure what to do and my dad I think is a bit upset? I thought this would come with strangers?

ok so now i'm freaking out. popped into work today after my holiday just to say hello and one of the women i work with is on mat leave atm. she was due next month but i was told that she'd had the baby early. she's had a really bad time, bleeding, high blood pressure the lot and was meant to be on bed rest but with another kid was finding it hard. on thursday she said she didn't feel very well, so the hospital told her to go in and they would check her out. they put her in a labour room and tell her to get changed and some one will be there soon. she pops to the loo, stands up and her waters go and out comes the baby too! there was water and blood everywhere and she's stood there screaming for her bf to pick to baby up but he's panicing. baby is in scbu as she is only 3lb 9oz. my god, as much as i'd love a quick labour i don't think i could cope with the drama!!0

All mine have gone through phases like that, so don't worry about it although I know it's awful to deal with at the time.
Charlotte went through a phase where she didn't like my Dad, and now he's the favourite and gets smothered in kisses all the time.
She's also had regular cuddles from the headmaster from school, then one day screamed the place down until he walked away (so embarrassing!), didn't want anything to do with him for a few weeks, and now she likes him againHere I go again on my own....0 -
Thanks Becles - I just keep using the excuses - shes probable hungry, got wind, tired etc - thought I might take her round today and let him give her a bottle - she likes anyone whose feeding her lol:rotfl:19.6.10 Weight loss 6lb0

Hi all just wanted to ask all you mums of older babies do your babies drink from a cup/beaker with spout yet? and if so how old were they when they made the transistion from breast/bottle?
I ask this because I distinctly remember my hv telling me back when ds1 was little that babies should go on to a cup from6 mths, however my ds2 (8mths next week) has other ideas and will not drink from a cup at all - he is breast fed on the main but has one bottle a day about an hour before bed. I'd like to change the bedtime bottle to a bed time drink in a cup as he now doesn't fall asleep when he drinks the bottle so doesn't need it for the comfort factor. Plus I think he sometimes needs a drink in the day and I'm loathe to introduce water/juice in bottles, however cups are causing very wet clothes and not being drank from at all!!
Any tips anyone?MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
No tips at all, sorry! Izzy is now 20 months and although she will have water from a cup, if I dare to give her milk in a cup, she has a huge paddy and won't drink it. She still has a bottle before bed and one first thing in the morning and nothing else will do.
I worried much more about everything with DD1 and this time round I vowed not to and to go with the flow more. So really just following her lead.
With water I found that loads got spilt to start with and even now she has more fun shaking the water everywhere rather than drinking it. You're supposed to go with the cups that aren't non spill, but if like me you have a LO who prefers decorating your house with the contents of their cup, you might have more success with the tommee tippee easiflow ones like this. I found these the most useful in getting her started. Now she's able to drink from a cup without a lid, think she wants to be like big sister, but she often misjudges and ends up very wet indeed!
But if anyone has any tips for getting them to take milk in a cup, I'd be grateful. Apart from anything else, it takes ages for her to drain the bottle as they don't make superfast teats for naughty older kids that won't give up bottles as far as I know..... perhaps a gap in the market there!!0 -
i found with my older son that he would only drink out of beakers with soft spouts. my younger son who is nearly 4 months and breastfeed but has one bottle of formula at night - i hope to try him on beakers instead of introducing more bottles - i think that the avent soft spouts which you can buy in a pack of 2 from boots fit in an avent bottle - although i will have to check this.
hope everyone is doing well - i don't post too much these days but often read what everyone is up to.
After having 4 children if i can give one tip then it's to go with your instincts most of the time - don't worry too much about what age things should be done - obviously if your child is 5 and still having a bottle/dummy then something needs to be done about it.
Annoyed:mad: - broke my breastpump 2 days ago and have asked on freecycle and nobody has offered one, going to have to fork out £18 for a new Avent one from Argos - could really do without the expense.now mum of 4!!!0
