My LO is on homemade but when we have to use jars i.e when were away we use Hipp organic or heniz mums own recipe, they look, taste and smell like what there meant to. I also use Plum organic it is slightly more expensive but it really is good stuff!

I've started her on the next stage up as like you say your purees are never as smooth as the jars.

    Thanks Purplepatch

I did wonder about trying stage 2 as only been on stage 1 and did think that my food is never as pureed as the jars especially with pasta which is LO's favourite.

Only wanted to try and sort this because going to Disneyland Paris at end of july and wondered what LO will be able to eat.

In that case, it may well be texture related. I think at Henry's age, Izzy was on 12 month jars, such was her hatred of slop, so certainly I'd suggest you give the next stage a try. Going on hols is exactly the time I find jars a godsend, I know she'll eat them and I can carry emergency supplies in the babybag, just in case she turns her nose up at something we're eating in a restaurant or when there's only fast foody type rubbish available.

Hi Maz, Poppy has Heinz Mums Own/Hipp Organic too when she is at my Mums house and we haven't had any problems as yet. When we first started weaning she mostly refused anything other than dessert (not sure where she gets that from! :o) but we just kept introducing the same foods again a few days later and gradually she stopped pulling the 'euck' face :rotfl:.

I would take it as a compliment that he loves Mummy's cooking so much! :D

    Cheers Purplepatch, scruffy96uk and Septemberbaby

Will try the next set of jars. As you say Purplepatch, its going to be a help when on holiday...

SB, apparently at nursery he gets the hump when the bowl is empty!! Mind you they have suggested trying toast soon so maybe he is ready for lumpier stuff. He's really not fussy and has had garlic, curry, tuna etc he just likes his food ( like his dad!) and loves bananas which the nursey said not all children do...so guess we are lucky.:D

    Hi all!
Congrats Septemberbaby!!! (as if I wasn't broody enough already!...)

We're just about ready to move onto 2nd stage weaning...any tips?

Plus baby breakfast ideas are muchly apreciated, Sams not able to cope with toast yet, and she doesn't like porrage...but she's sick of the "Just add water/milk" things!
    thanks!

Why not give her slices of fruit - melon / strawberries / apple / pears even a whole banana

I haven't tried her with strawberries yet (plus the ones in the greenhouse are ripening! Yay!):j So can try that soon.

She hates banana...(and broccoli - separately, I'm not THAT cruel!;) )
Sam des like melon, and so do I for that matter! She'll need help eating it!

I used to give various fruits mixed with yogurt - I used normal suitable for baby yogurts like petit filous. Or even yogurts on their own if we were really running late for school!!

I'd second oatmeal/readybrek and wheatabix, we also do fruit (mostly banana's as they are so easy) and rusks as finger foods lots ends up on the floor though :D

Archie pulled himself up to standing and stayed there for a photoshoot today  once they get going there's no stopping them is there!! Mind you I felt Archie was doing really well until we started baby massage - all the babies there are younger than 6 mths (we are the oldest of the class by a month at least ) and sitting up - he only mastered that at 6 1/2 mths!!

Hope you are all enjoying the good weather.:T :T :T
