My DS1 is nearly 5, but loves his purple rabbit, very imaginatively called Bunny. :rotfl: He always comes on holidays with us and DS1 is adamant he's coming with us next week to Spain. :D

(well, I say purple - he's almost pink! I got him as a pressie when I was pregnant and didn't know whether I was having a boy or a girl :rotfl: )

Haven't checked this thread for ages but nice to see familiar names on here! :D

My eldest is nearly 6 and takes a whole zoo worth of soft toys to bed with him every night! He also takes any new toys that he has had so tonight it's a selection of hot wheels snuggling up next to monkey, rabbit and penguin. (We're not very imaginative with names as you can tell!) :D

Good night all. I really need to go to bed!

My DS hasn't got a favorite properly as yet (but then he's only 10 months), but we certainly do. There's Boris Bear, I bought him from Hamley when I was about 7 months pregnant and he slept on my bed until DS arrived, Banksy Bear, was a present given when DS was born, very cool bear in a hoody and Melvin Monkey who we bought a couple of months ago when DS was dedicated, we had him from the Bear Factory so he's got his own birth certificate. Boris and Melvin go to bed with DS and Banksy lives downstairs on DS's toy basket.

Looking at it like that I'm wondering who's more attached to the animals, me or DS. :o

My boys are still attached to cuddly toys.

Joshua is 11 and still has a toy seal which he sleeps with. He pretends he couldn't care less about it, but went crackers when my husband was teasing him and said he put Sealy in the bin :rotfl:

James is 9 and has a bed covered in cuddly toys but loves "Ripped Bob" best. That's a Bob the Builder that has been cuddled so much he is dropping to bits and has been sewn back together umpteen times!

Both Sealy and Ripped Bob had to go on holiday with us

  • Help!!!!

my youngest is only 3 months old and i am feeling broody already. Already have 3 other children and i think that 4 is enough for anyone to manage timewise and moneywise. Definitely never having any more kids but i feel so sad that i won't be having any more babies. For a start my body wouldn't be able to cope! Haven't done anything about contraception yet, although i know this sounds awful but i haven't any need to (really need to do something about that before OH bursts!). Part of me thinks that i should do something permanent to stop me having any more but then the other part of me thinks if i do that then i will definitely pine for more children just because i can't have one.

Anyone else felt like this? Why do babies grow so quick? Can't believe my oldest is 11 and off to secondary school in september - it makes me so sad.

Good luck for tomorrow! I know it's quite worrying, but I'm sure it will be fine.

It's so lovely seeing the little bean (or shrimp! :rotfl: ) on the screen... oh no, I'm getting broody!

Thank you ladies! 3kids, please feel free to skip past this post ;) xxx

I'm having a baby! Yes, really! I have seen it with my own eyes :rotfl:. Poppy's brother or sister is due on 17 December 2008 and we're over the moon :j. So glad that this morning is over and done with as I didn't sleep at all last night. My Mum has taken Poppy for the afternoon and I'm going to bed shortly for a rest :o.

  • Hi Septemberbaby - so pleased for you and jealous too! It is so lovely when they are little and i wish i could go back to when my two oldest were little. Hopefully your two will be best of friends because they will be so close in age. Hope you are feeling well and managing to relax and rest.

september baby - congratulations to you.

My survival tip for having two so close is try to be as organised as possible. We repack the nappy bag every time it is used so it is always ready to go, and we lay clothes out the night before and all get dressed before DH goes to work in the morning. When we go anywhere, i put DS2 in the car seat in the house, then i get DS1 and any bags in the car 1st so he is strapped in and safe, then come back for DS2 and to lock the house, and on the way back in, we do the opposite. It seems to work for us. I also use the baby sling when i need to take them somewhere where i haven't got anyone to meet and help me, but luckily at playgroup i meet my sister and 2yo nephew, and she helps to watch DS1. It is manageable but very scary when both cry at once.

3kids - i don't know what to say, other than it is hormones. I was like that after DS1, and i would like another one now, but this time i am going to resist until they are a bit more sensible/independent, like maybe when DS1 is 5ish and at school.

Our favourite cuddly here is humphrey the elephant (humphreys corner comforter from mothercare) and DS1 only seemed to get really attached to it around 14 months, and he sucks the trunk and ears of the elephant to go to sleep. It is really disgusting, and the head is misshapen and looks about to fall off. I am tempted to buy him another one, as i don't think he would care if it were slightly different. I worry the trunk will fall off one night and choke him.

Thankfully he is only needed at night time for sleeping, although he will have him for daytime naps at home in his cot, and when he wakes up he keeps him for a short time while we change his nappy in the bathroom, but then takes him back to the cot and chucks him in and says bye.

I am relieved to see we all seem to be having the clinginess. I was worried it was me. ;) Between us we should come up with some good solutions so we have a bank of ideas to use.

grrrrr, we're off on holiday on sunday and get free annual travel insurance through my dh work. as pregnancy is classed as a pre-existing condition, i'm not covered and unless i want to spend loads of money i'm not able to get any travel insurance. i think this is really stupid, i'm not ill or dying! if i had a high risk pregnancy then i might agree but i've not and they wont even accept a gps letter to say i'm ok to travel. grrr rant over

Pleased the scan went ok September Baby.

We've had a lovely day. I met some other lasses from another board I use, and we've spent all day in the pub (nattering and not drinking!) I took Charlotte and she loved having all the attention from everyone.

I don't have colleagues as I'm self employed, so it's nice getting out and just chatting to people.

Made me wonder if there is any mileage in a board for mothers who don't actually see anyone on a day to day basis. I know I sometimes get lonely in my job, and was lonely when I was a single parent and would have liked some place just to natter with other mothers. Might be a project to persue when I've got some spare time.
