Tell me about it Snaggles  3/4 of my maternity leave is over, my teeny tiny baby is growing up, and I still don't get enough sleep...
Maz - after extensive research and willingness to spend shedloads and not be very MSE, I discovered the only highchair worth having is the cheapy Ikea one! http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00069725 Hoses down nicely with the pressure washer too0 -
Going to look at buying a new highchair tomorrow - anyone got any favourites/ horror stories just as a guide ?

I'm really up for more babies, but don't tell my doctor, I'm sure she'd have me locked up. For some reason OH is not budging from his 'no more, ever' stance, however I nag. I tried the 'you promised the priest' and the 'we can't have an only child' tacks but no, apparently little Joseph, the angel of a baby, has put him off! Okay, so he was a shock to the system, but really we have been really lucky. He hardly ever cries anymore (replaced with moaning until you get the hint for sleepy, thirsty, bored etc). The only thing I can think of as the next hurdle is teething, which he hasn't started yet.
See, I can be positive and happy - ask me again by this evening, or tomorrow

Hi all - off on my hols tomorrow (not camping thankfully the oh decided it would be too cold for baby and coughed up for 4* accomodation int he form of a big shed (aka a chalet!!) daren't tell him that someone from this forum has already took their LO camping or he might have a rethink  . i am currently working my way through piles of washing so as to have a whole weeks worth of clothing to take away!
re highchairs - have to say if I hadn't been given one I would have liked something like that ikea one - looks very easy to clean - threw my ds1's one away when I couldn't cope with the mess any more.
Agutka - I would also like another LO but OH is adamant it's a no go - it's the money mainly though - and the sleepless nights! we've just moved LO into his own room as he's nearly 7 mths now (and going to bed really well so it seemed silly to worry bout him being in another room when we were only with him half the night anyway), and so we've only just started to get full nights sleeping.....7 - 6.30 on a good day :j :j :j :j - can't see him changing his mind though.

I was given my highchair from the lovely peeps at work, but I don't really like it. Its some kind of mothercare one ...
The ikea one - the chair obviously goes up right to the table and then baby eats off the main table ??? Does baby have to have room under the table to put their legs (ie does your table top overhang a bit ? because I am concerned as to where baby's legs would go, because all I can see is baby kicking against the underframe of the table and then of course the whole chair tipping backwards ... is it possible to adjust the height of the chair ???)
Sorry for all the questions, but I obvioulsy want to replace ours - or would one of those chairs that you sit on top of a normal chair be better - what age can baby go into those from ???
We were the ones who went camping with our 6m old. It was fab .... (although we have friends who had a camper van and we all climbed in there the evening that it rained cats and dogs ...:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

Yes, the chair fits nicely just under our table, but as DS still sweeps things off it, I use the Ikea tray that you can buy for an extra £3...:D

Don't worry, there is a tray to go with it, and an inflatable cushion to keep monkeys wedged in! Comes to about £17 in the end. I love mine, so easy to clean and after two months so far, it only has one defect of a bolognese stain on the inflatable cushion.
It does not move at all, being molded plastic, but when I used it up by the table baby sat very comfortably.
Another plus is the four legs - firstly they detatch easily, so you can put the thing away, and secondly they are far apart enough (for stability) for my large dog to position herself comfortably underneath to catch any falling goodies. Everything Joseph drops is closely followed by a slurp or crunch munch :rotfl:. I promised her these days would come and they have! Poor thing had her life turned on its head when the screaming thing arrived, but it is all forgotten now :wall:0 -
Agutka that sounds like a sales pitch
But I agree with all your points, they have really got it exactly right. How is Joseph? And you?
We found Elliot's first tooth last night. 4 months of teething symptoms, I was starting to think it might never happen! But there it is, shiny white and as sharp as a needle. That and the bruises, scratches and pinchmarks are putting me right off breastfeeding0 -

:T Ooh, I would love to [strike]work[/strike] live there! Unfortunately OH has erm 'dealings' with an Ikea depot and says they're a bunch of asterisks lol. So I am forbidden from going there ever, whoopsie.

:eek: Eeekk! That's just lovely! Hope he learns to be a good boy!
Speaking of breastfeeding, lovely to see the campaigns happening, maybe they might even explain to first timers that it is hard work and not like in the videos, so we won't be put off at the first sign of trouble (I seriously didn't know the truth, so gave up thinking we were just pants at it). But enough of the propaganda. I was in mothercare yesterday looking at holiday items. And the spiel about breastfeeding being better was on everything. I understand it on milk powders, everyday bottles, foods etc, but it's been seven months and I'm still being made to feel bad about the bottle. Everywhere I look I'm being shouted at. Why don't they just stop selling the stuff and you'll only be able to get bottles from GPs on prescription when you have a valid medical reason. I'll never forget being made to feel like a leper at the hospital one night (please do not go into the feeding room, as there are mothers breastfeeding in there, go next door) on your own, crying. Still sends shivers down my spine. And now I suppose I can blame it on the bottle when Joseph gets a cold, or teethes later, or whatever else is normal. Grrr. Don't mean to offend, but it ust got a bit much.
On a brighter note, Joseph looked at me yesterday and said MAMA :j:j:T:D:A Soooooo beautiful. Got lots of unwanted (boys eh?) kisses and cuddles for that. I am in love!:wall:0
