Cathie - I bathed DD every other day at this age, she didn't get dirty as she didn't move around, I also limit bubble bath to a couple of times a week. If she needs more than a wet cloth but not a full bath after her tea I stick her in the bathroom sink.

DD definitely has hayfever the anti-histamine she's been prescribed has really helped.

I think there may be another tooth on the way too as she has really red cheeks this afternoon and she has nappy rash. The cheeks calmed down once she'd had some teething powder.

I just started a new job ( 3 months ago)
But really want to have a second baby.
Is there a time limit that you have to work for a company before you are entitled to maternity pay??? I would happliy wait a while longer. Or does it depend on the company you work for????

    Thanks for any help

    Hi Jen

I'm not sure about the answer to your Q, but hope this link will be useful? http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/WorkAndFamilies/DG_10029285

It could depend on what your contract says. Have you checked to see if it specifies? Or there could be info on an intranet site which you could look at without speaking to anyone directly. HTH

Took the plunge and got LO in terry nappies today. lol, it's taken me two days to figure out how to fold them and use nappy nippas. She looks most bizarre - like a little weeble with this huge padded bottom. :D

I think I am getting LO into very bad habits. She is held all the time and now doesn't appreciate being left to sit or lie anywhere and has a total paddy. I will have to get her angelcare monitor on the go so I can put her in moses basket in a separate room - she is with us all the time at the moment and goes to sleep with the telly blaring and all the lights on. :o "

Well done on using the terries, it gets easier to do the folds, then they grow and you have to learn a new one, we are mainly using the neat fold at the moment (Alice is 3 months)

I have been told babies don't learn bad habits for at least the first 3 - 6 months. Alice was the same at 1 month old she wanted to be held all the time, I got lots of comments from my mum and mother in law about she crys because she is held all the time and I should put her down more, but I ignored them and did it my own way. Now she is a bit older she is happy to be left to play with her toys and goes to sleep on her own etc. She slept in her cot in her own room for the first time last night. I did find my baby sling really helpful in the first few weeks because it meant I could get on with things around the house and she felt secure too - I still use it alot now too.

I too would not be worrying about bad habits at this age JoJo - your DD will barely be aware that she's no longer inside you! In fact I'm still not worried about bad habits at 7 months - they grow too fast... <broody>

DP and I keep having conversations that start 'if we had another baby...' I think deep down we both know it won't happen. I just can't shake it off though.

    Hello
I have a question, my daughter is 13 weeks old now and for the past few weeks I have been bathing her nightly as part of her bedtime routine, she loves the bath and she settles to sleep well after. However my husband is concerned that we are bathing her too regularly. I know you aren't supposed to bath new born babies every night, but do you think it's ok now?
    Thanks Cathy
    I haven't bathed Natasha for over 3 weeks... :o:o:o

She's got a pot on her leg (hip to toe) so I can't. We've been doing sponge baths only, but I am dying to give her a proper bath. Poor little thing must feel really grubby (although I honestly don't think she's that bothered!). Five days to go......
