 Ryan tried to pick Natasha up for a cuddle yesterday.....
Natasha now has a fractured leg.
She's coping quite well and has been very brave, but I am now officially a terrible mother.I have suddenly decided to keep J in his cot from now on, after replacing the bars with soft padded walls of course.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

 Oh Snaggles! Poor Natasha, poor Ryan, and poor you! :grouphug:
These things do happen though when there are children around - my brother is 4 years older than me and I remember being maybe 5 and on one of those really old fashioned see-saws - made of metal and very high when, uh, saw-ing... Absentmindedly (I hope!) my brother stood up to get off when I was at the top on the other side. My face and nose went SMACK straight into the metal frame. My mum said the scream I made had everyone within hearing distance stop dead and lookthere was blood everywhere, and the first of many times I would need hospital treatment for smashing my face into something - usually bike frames/concrete.
To join in the guilt-fest, I have made Elliot cry three times in three daysFirstly, by saying his name to get his attention as he tried to roll off mid-nappy change. He looked at me, the lip went down, and he bawled his eyes out. Yesterday, a similar thing, he pinched me very hard during a feed and I jumped and said ouch - more lip wobbles and crying - and just this morning when I tried to play with his rainmaker with him - hysterics - maybe because of the noise, I don't know

Oooh, Snaggles, I do admire little Natasha leg. Hope she isn't in too much discomfort and little bones mend well.
You and Ryan shouldn't feel bad, accidents do happen - that is why there is the word accident ... I think I could crash the whole of MSE if I was to own up to some of the things I have accidently put my children through and ended up at A&E.0 -

Daniel had the most awful rash, bleeding, bright red, very sore and within days of slapping this cream on it was practically all gone...
after weeks of us trying everything and him suffering, i now swear by the stuff
you have nothing to lose by trying it!
I just thought I'd follow this up by the way as I went ahead on CG's recommendation and bought a couple of tubes of this cream as Izzy suffers terribly with nappy rash.
It's called Morhulin and I am so impressed with it. I had tried every single nappy rash cream, you name it, sudocrem, tea tree, metanium, drapolene, bepanthen, canesten hc, vaseline... all of it. I'd never heard of zinc and cod liver oil cream, but as none of the above had made much of a difference to her bum, I thought I'd give it a go.
Since then, about 3 months ago now, we haven't had anywhere near as bad a rash as she used to get. It still flares up from time to time and can get weepy in such a short space of time, but the Morhulin zaps it every time. Fantastic stuff.
I couldn't find it in any of my local chemists, but they ordered it in for me. Cost a couple of quid for a tube, so not too pricey either.
So a hearty recommendation from me. Thanks CG if you ever come on here anymore.0 -

Yes, but how cute is the lip thing! Joseph once just looked at me and burst into tears. Thanks son, that's how to make mummy feel good about herself. You never know when or why they do it. Today I was growling at him and biting his hands and he thought it was hilarious. Can you get them used to sudden noises etc? I always lose my temper at the dog, so poor J witnesses mummy suddenly shouting at something and though he looks confused he never actually cries. Hubby is always booing at him, because he wants him nice and brave, in contrast to his niece and nephew who are scared of their own shadows.
It must be hard being a baby... :A:wall:0 -
snaggles really don't feel bad about natasha. I remember dropping my brother when he was about 6 months old and i am nearly 12 years older than him, so was very trustworthy to be holding him. They just throw themselves around sometimes, and even adults struggle to hold on.
I also did the throw myself down the stairs holding Charlie at xmas time, when i was about 21 weeks preggie, and DH got the biggest shock out of the lot of us. He didn't know what to do or who to help. I thought i had broken DS's leg as he was unable to stand on it at first, and was dreading having to explain that one.
Mum also broke 2 of my sisters fingers when she was tiny, as she laid her buggy down, and didn't realise her hand was in the way.
becles charlie used to pull himself up at the coffee table all the time. It will be no time now before she is all over on her feet.
meal times - i always did DS's around 4ish as we can sometimes not eat till 8 or 9ish. I sit with him and i have a cup of tea and something snacky. I think i woudl go with the suggestion of getting all the kids to sit together and have a snack. It is the social side of things they respond to, and as long as some meals are eaten together they get the idea.
I have to say, now i am back on maternity leave i always eat breakfast and lunch with DS, and then let him eat his tea by himself with me sat with him, and this works for us.

You are not a terrible mother! I watched my cousins older children manhandle their younger sibling a while ago - dragged under the arms across the living room backwards...my cousin ignored it, and she is a GP! If it's good enough for her ...;)
I hope the leg heals quickly - you'll probably take longer to get over it than she will. Ryan tried to pick Natasha up for a cuddle yesterday.....

Oh, poor Natasha!!
I've been showing DD the photo. She's always trying to pick Tom up and even though she's nine, if he struggles she'll find him hard to handle. We keep telling her she's not big enough to pick him up but I can see from the look on her face she thinks she knows better! Hoping that seeing natasha's picture will make her think twice as I have terrible images in my mind of her dropping him on his head :eek:0 -
Awww, thanks everyone, I'm not feeling quite so guilty now thanks to you all. She's doing really well today, just needed one lot of calpol because she decided to try and choke herself on a biscuit so had to throw her across my knee and pat her back to get it out (this child is trying to give me a nervous breakdown, I swear....), and I think it jerked her leg a bit. She hasn't needed any painkillers to get to sleep though, and she's been crawling around lots today."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Hi everyone - I'm new here. I joined the pregnancy thread yesterday (well - on the TTC list anyway) I already have a 16 month old.
re the nappy rash, I used to get an organic nappy rash cream I tend not to need it now as dd is on solids and the dirty nappies are less frequent - so less incidents of nappy rash! Was fab stuff though.
Oh - and re the dropping thing. I've not dropped her - but I did bump her fingers in the tv cabinet door once. No major damage but quite a few tears!!:
