Started weaning Samantha now  . Can't do BLW with breakfast really unless I want a BIG mess or it is fruit, so have been feeding her a bit of weetbix / oat porridge which she didn't quite like the first day, but has been more willing subsequently. We are doing BLW for dinner (evening meal), but I am not sure what time to do it. As you may or may not know, I have DS1 who is 9 and DS2 who is 6, and they generally eat when DH comes home at 6:30. But to feed Samantha at this time is just too late - she is starting be tired then, and then she has to bath (as meals are MESSSY), afterwards DS2 has to bath (and his bed time is 7:30) so limited time, then DS1 (and his bedtime is 8:00) and then DH afterwards. It is like a finely tuned production line :rotfl: and the human element just dooms it to failure :rotfl: .
I don't really want to feed her on her own earlier, as I want her to interact with us at meal times .... Those of you with huge gaps in your children's ages, what do you do ????Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

 Ryan tried to pick Natasha up for a cuddle yesterday.....
Natasha now has a fractured leg.
She's coping quite well and has been very brave, but I am now officially a terrible mother."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Oh bless her, poor little love. I hope she recovers really quickly, their bones mend so quickly at that age. Don't blame yourself Snaggles, Olivia picks Izzy up all the time, you can't guess something like that will happen. My friend fell down the stairs while carrying her baby and landed on him and broke his leg. She felt terrible of course but he's fully recovered now, you'd never know it had happened, just one of those things.
Hugs to you all (and poor little Ryan too!!)

Hi Everyone,
Katie is much better, Friday night was difficult she ended up with a cold cloth on her head at one point she was so hot, even with Calpol!
We missed swimming on Saturday with her being poorly, I didn't think it was fair dunking her in water when her temperature was so up and down.
She didn't eat much solid food until Sunday afternoon, just wanted mummy. She's made up for it since though.
I've cracked getting Katie to settle on her own at bedtime - she likes to hold hands, I've given her a teddy to cuddle, she looks so cute, I'd take a photo but it would wake her up.
Snaggles: Katie started her walking at 11 months too, and is most definitely a toddler now, no crawling at all she just spends all day walking. Accidents happen, you're not a bad mum. Katie sends a hug for Natasha and hopes that she's back practicing her walking soon as it's great fun.
Katie has had her Grandma feeling guilty as she headbutted a radiator at toddler's last week, the day after she'd headbutted a wall with me, the bruises were in the same place!

Awww poor Natasha - hope she's ok in herself and managing with the cast on.
Don't beat yourself up about it Snaggles. It was an accident and it happens to us all. I know how you feel as I felt awful when Charlotte banged her head on Saturday, but there was nothing me (or you!) could have done to prevent the accident.
Hope Ryan is ok. He must feel bad too - bless him. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Awww, thank you all. I AM feeling rather guilty, because I was upstairs and hubby had nipped into the kitchen to check on dinner, so neither of us saw it happening. There's a little voice at the back of my head saying I shouldn't have left them alone together, as Ryan has aspergers syndrome as you may know, and is prone to being impulsive and losing concentration, but he is usually so careful and gentle with her. He does feel so upset about it, poor little guy.
Hope all the other injured and poorly children are recovering."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Poor Natasha - I hope you recover from the shock soon too - I know how it feels when my little brother dropped DS! down the stairs I felt like I should have been there to stop it happening. At the end of the day you can't be there all the time and it's terribly easy for accidents to happen.
I felt officially a bad mum when I had to take DS1 to casualty for stitches at 9pm one night (prob more like 10 by the time we got there got home at midnight!)- if I'd put him to bed on time he would never have tripped up onto his plastic cup (of all things) - was expecting hv to come visit after that one lol!! I hope your little boy doesn't feel too responsible - I'm sure he never meant to drop her - they can be awful wriggly those little ones!MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -

Oh Snaggles, you poor thing, hope you feel better soon, all of you - I bet Natasha will be the first to get over that one though.
I have suddenly decided to keep J in his cot from now on, after replacing the bars with soft padded walls of course.
How long does the cast stay on for? Babies must get terribly frustrated with this hinderance, or do they not even notice anything is amiss:wall:0 -
She will have it on for 4 weeks. She's managing to crawl around quite well, although she is getting a bit frustrated.
I'm with you on the padded cot Agutka...think I will go out and look for one of those tomorrow, as well as a crash helmet and padded sleepsuit!
Tsstss, funnily enough the health visitor is coming next week anyway - she's just taken over from our old health visitor so is just doing a 'get to know you' visit. I think I only ever met Ryan's health visitor twice, so I was quite surprised that she would bother to do that. Ah well, it will give us something to talk about."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
