  • Thanks everyone for your advise re decorating, i might do a little bit on Friday as Mum said she'll have Jack for his morning nap, so I can get started, then DH can do the rest on Saturday. He's doing boyz toyz on Sunday and we only have this weekend to do it. I reckon we need to allow a month for the fumes to clear completely before this baby is born and in with us for a little while. We lasted 4 weeks with Jack, she may be less.

Becles I voted for Charlotte too, what a lot of hair she has for a 7 month old, she has changed a lot from her pic on your avatar.

Right guys I'm going for a nap, just did controlled crying with Jack for his nap and i've had enough. Hopefully i'll get an hours rest.

    See you all later.

SC, I found your post about EC very interesting but don't think I could do it though with this one. Strangely enough Jack I couldn't remember the last time Jack wee'd when I took off his nappy, it was a long time ago, until this afternoon, I wasn't prepared as we've relaxed about it and he caught me out big time. Bad timing eh?

Bit of a difficult day with him, funny one minute and horrible the next, i'm sure he knows its because I am tired. I had to wrestle him to change his nappy earlier he had the right strops and I know its because he was really tired and didn't know what to do with himself, but I can't make him sleep can I? If only.......

    I must go to bed.

I've voted for Charlotte too. We've been weaning Alice with finger foods. So far we've given her parsnip, onion and sourdough bread all cut into roughly chip shape/size.

EDIT: we gave her some lamb today and it was her favourite so far. It seemed to be better because it didn't break up in her hand while she was holding it like the other stuff tends to.
You gave her onion? Don't think I've ever heard of onion as a finger food. :)

(I used to hate onion as a child, maybe that's why I'm so surprised :o)

Is it baby led weaning that you're doing? I've seen some information about it and it sounds really interesting. :)
  • Yes it's baby led weaning we're doing (or "finger food weaning" if you ask OH cos he can't remember the "proper" name  ).

We just cut an onion into quarters and boiled it (or it may have been steamed - OH did it) and then we gave her the outer layers which were bigger. She spent more time playing with it than she has with any of the other food and seemed quite fascinated presumably because it had such an unusual feel to it.

    hia,

We entered our little one too on page 258! Not much chance of a random passer by over there now is there!

If anyone has a vote to spare feel free to throw it maddies way.

Shes called Madelaine Worton & is on the top row here :-

    Cheers all & good luck,

  • Hi Worto, that is another lovely picture, the girls on this site are cute!!

I went to vote but didn't realise that you only have one until I clicked the link. So sorry I would have done. She looks a smiley happy baby, is she like that all the time?

Madelaine is a nice name, not one I have considered yet, but I've been saying over and over and i think i'm going to put it to DH to go on the list. Do you find she is Maddy for short? He's still set on Olivia though, I don't think we'll decide until she is born.

    Thanks for the votes :)

    I haven't been very well :(

My son was poorly on Friday with a nasty vomiting bug. Then hubby caught it, and now I've got it.

I've stopped being sick now, but I haven't eaten anything yet. I ache all over and I just feel wiped out. Currently laying on the sofa with the laptop posting this, while Charlotte is in her baby gym, shouting at an elephant - lol.

She had her 7 month check up this morning with the HV at home. She's doing well, but we need to practice sitting up as she should be doing that by 9 months old, and encouraging her to go on her tummy more.
Here I go again on my own....

We mostly did baby led weaning too - the first food DS ever had in his mouth was some red pepper from my stir fry, sucked clean,( :o ) and handed to him. He was very interested in it, and mouthed it for ages. He was 7 months exactly at the time.

My HV was very unimpressed at the BLW though! So we ignored her, and took advice from the midwives at the baby cafe.
    The IVF worked;DS born 2006.

    Hia,

Thanks & yeah shes pretty much like that all the time - this week her latest trick is not to eat, instead she just keeps the food in her mouth for ages making noises then after a while sneezes and it all comes flying out!

It's stuff she has eaten before like toast with jam on or chicken and veg hand pureed (how do you spell that?) anyway I took her to the docs in case there was something wrong with her throat (1st time parent or what eh!) anyway there is nothing wrong with her he said shes just having fun or being awkward so to keep trying.

Oh and yeah we call her Maddie mostly all the time, the main thing we wanted out of a name was for her to be able to shorten it when she gets older and it was between Melissa (Mel) and Madelaine (Maddie) in the end.

I preferred Mel but didn't fancy telling my GF that in the hospital after what she went through! I think Maddie suits her now just fine :)

I'm working until midnight tonight so I'm going to have a read through the recent posts here I've not been around for a while & there seems to be a lot of talk about food at the mo which might help us out!

The voting works by installing a cookie on your PC saying voted = true. So if you clear your cookies you can vote again, I'm not 100% if it works or not as I don't see any way to see a vote count to test it.

I'm gonna chuck a vote in for Charlotte when I get to work this afternoon :)

    worto.

P.S. Sorry I rambled so much & when did this forum slow down so much it's painful to go between pages now!
