Sex, what's that then? The last time DH came near me was over a month ago and this pregnancy I'm finding it feels different to the last one, its not as good and I guess that's because I am more knackered.
CG, I am going to feel the same as you once this baby is born, DH is coming nowhere near me until we have contraception sorted, neither of us want any more babies. The thought of going through what I'm going through at the moment with 2 little ankle biters sends fear through me.
I've also been finding the posts amusing, probably as I can relate to them.
CG don't worry about upsetting me, at first I thought you thought I was being unrealistic, but then I read some of those Babycentre pages and I realised Jack does need 11 hours at night and 3 hours day naps. That one hour may not sound a lot, but he rubs his eyes and gets grotty within 89 mins of being up. But hey, I was going to start putting him down at 6.45 every eve, but this week its been difficult and tomorrow too, so I may start on Tuesday. This eve he was in bed at half seven so we shall see how that turns out. This morning he woke at 6.15, which was nice, but since 3am i'd been cat napping being uncomfortable with "her indoors" and from 5.30 I was clock watching thinking any moment now........ DH and I have agreed we will start getting up with him on alternate days, so we both know exactly where we stand. Its been great having Dh around all weekend he's mucked in with Jack a lot. Just means next weekend i've got sunday to fill by myslef again.
Did any of you decorate whilst pregnant? I want to decorate our bedroom this saturday but DH says he'll be seriously concerned if I do it, but it needs to be done in a day, as he's Boyz Toyz on Sunday. Its doable, but he doesn't want me doing it. We'll have to sleep downstairs for a night if he does it Sat.
Jack is still on 4 bottles a day and draining them everytime. I thought by now we'd be on 3 bottles, but he's showing no sign of wanting to drop one, he seems to look forward to his milk. He is solely on cows milk now and that transition was one of the easiest things i have done with him. I dont' know if I should continue as we are with the 4 bottles or gradually make his midmorning one smaller and smaller. During the day before his naps I always give him his milk in his room before putting him down, so I know he won't wake early as he's hungry and this seems to work for us. Also i've read on babycentre that as he's solely on cows milk its adviseable to give him vitamin drops, i've never heard or seen of them for babies. Any thoughts on this? I just wondered what you other mum's of 1yr are doing?
Right night all.
Sorry if i missed anybody out but I only came online to check my emails and do our accoutns and I haven't even looked at them yet.0 -
Yep, I decorated Olivia's new bedroom with dh while pg with Iz, during the baking hot part of summer 2006. I wasn't allowed up the ladder, so did all the bits within my easy reach, no major stretching obviously. The nesting instinct helped as I was actually quite enthusiastic about doing it for once, most of the time I loathe decorating. We got it done in 2 days I seem to remember.
Saying that, I wasn't totally knackered looking after a sleepless toddler, so don't overdo it Bay... I'd leave it to your dhespecially if he doesnt want you doing it!

As you are all mums on here i thought i would ask you lot about travel systems. I already have 3 children but have always bought maclaren buggys before and never a system. Been looking around and not sure what to buy. Don't really want to spend over £200 all in and want something that is going to last and fit in the car. Need a basket underneath too. Have seen a Graco one for £139 in toys r us but not sure if it would be any good. Any advice would be appreciated.
Also is it worth waiting for the sales, or are they just a waste of time.
Thanksnow mum of 4!!!0 -

Lol, yes, found the same thing with Iz. Didn't even do it gradually, just gave her cows milk instead of formula one day and she didn't so much as bat an eyelid. Not much effect on the nappies either. I don't give any vitamin drops, had never heard of that. She seems pretty healthy, so I'm not going to change anything. She has about 20oz a day, one first thing, one at 4pm ish and one at bedtime. But often she'll have more if she wakes in the night .0 -

Yes - I get decorating hormones when I'm pregnant :rotfl:

Thanks
I had a graco one with Olivia and I didn't like it much. The wheels squeaked really badly and I found it hard to manouvre.
When Izzy came along, I found that the carseat base didn't fit our new car, so sold the graco one on ebay for £40 and bought a Mamas and Papas 3in1 system with mpx chassis on ebay for £60, in perfect hardly used nick. Not sure of the retail price, but it's a hell of a lot more than that! I'm getting to the point now that she's 13 months, where it is getting too cumbersome and I'll probably switch to a buggy, but it's served me well. I particularly found the carseat useful as it clicks in and out of a base unit in the car and easily clicks directly into the chassis, which I could do in just a few seconds - it was perfect for when I had to take Olivia to preschool and had to lug the baby along. I also liked the carrycot for when she was tiny so she could lie flat if we were out for any length of time. For short outings though I mainly left her in the carseat.
Downside of it is that you need a decent sized car boot! They take up a lot of space, especially the carrycot.0 -
I'm another pregnancy decorator.....we slept on a mattress in our living room for 2 weeks when I was about 8 months pregnant, just to get our bedroom ready for the new arrival. Skirting boards are the trickiest bit....how on earth do you get down that low when you have a bump in the way??
But as long as you're careful up ladders (I would say 'avoid ladders' but that would be hypocritical seeing as I spent hours up a ladder...lol), and listen to your body and have a rest when it tells you to, you should be fine."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
We decorated Imogen's room and fitted a new bathroom - including doing all the tiling ourselves - when I was pregnant. I was strictly on 'light duties' which basically meant painting a 3 foot-deep strip in front of me all the way round with hubby filling in top and bottom! And stricly no glossing as the fumes are too much (according to hubby).
You've reminded me that we tiled our bathroom floor, bath panel and two full walls (brick-style doncha know!!) while I was about 5 months pregnant. I sat on the edge of the bath while hubby cut the tiles outside in the garden, then ran upstairs to give them to me to put up. We made a pretty good job of it if I say so myself. Must be that nesting instinct...
Bay - all I'd say is, you've got enough on your plate so you shouldn't be doing anything, especially with your recent scare. So what if you have to sleep downstairs for a night or two as long as you're comfy (don't imagine you're that comfy even in your own bed these days)
Travel systems - we borrowed one from SIL and hated it. Heavy, cumbersome, couldn't get it in the boot of our Audi A3, let alone in my little Fiesta. I liked that you could put baby in the car seat then clip that on to the frame, but we really only did that for a few weeks. We quickly bought a buggy from Toys R Us (which wasn't as great as we thought it would be) and have since bought a M&P Luna (from the outlet shop!).
Our criteria for a pram were to get it in the boot of my car, to have good suspension so it's comfy when we're out for walks and to be narrow and nippy enough for the shops. We LOVE our Luna and will probably just get a separate car seat when we're in a position to need one. http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-102189000/type-I/?engine=froogle&keyword=Mamas+%26amp%3B+Papas+LUNA+-+AZURE
Another draw-back of the travel system car seat I found was that it was so heavy even without baby that I couldn't lift it for months after my section. We used a more lightweight one which I could lift and gave that one to MIL for when she had Imogen. Even hubby found it hard work. MIL just had it permanently in the car so it didn't matter to her.
Just looked at the link above and you can get car seat adaptors for our Luna - hurrah!! So we'll probably just do that when the time comes.
Sorry I've written another essay girls! Everyone I know with a travel system had a second pram within months, so I really don't rate them for practicality, even though as an idea they're great.
