The dog stinks today as well, as he pinched some jalapeno peppers last night and ate them

DS had hand, foot and mouth a couple of years ago. His mouth was absolutely full of ulcers and he was in so much pain. I really would stay away if at all possible.

  • hi Purplepatch - Feeling OK, had amnio a week today and feeling a little teeny bit more positive, just can't wait for the 3 week 'risk' period to be over. Don't seem to be leaking like i thought i was. Have even thought about going on a big shopping spree for baby but don't know if that would be tempting fate. Hopefully will be able to claim surestart maternity grant at 29 weeks so will perhaps wait til after i have that money and feeling more positive.

Hope everyone and their babies are well. I loved having my kids in our room when they were tiny, it was so much easier, especially as i checked them numerous times during the night. All being well i am going to put our new baby in with my 4 year old when he is 6 months old. We have reshuffled the bedrooms to make room. As for the messy nappies - beware of wind when wiping dirty bottoms as when my daughter was a baby and my husband changed a nappy (very rare) she managed to squirt poo all over him - i just wish i had videoed it.:rotfl:

Don't suppose they would have showed that one on You've Been Framed, what with it being a teatime show! I would have found that highly amusing if it had happened to my DH too.

Glad you are feeling happier about things. Save the shopping spree for when the 3 weeks are up, you don't want to be walking around the shops - keep yourself rested up (as much as possible with 3 kids!!!) for now.
  • 3kidsnomoney, please take it easy, shopping is knackering when pregnant, you don't want to overdo anything at this stage. If its not essential then please wait, you've plenty of time.

You also reminded me of a squity poo I had from Jack at approx 2-3 weeks old. DH went out to the car to fetch something and I realised Jack had pooed, so proceeded to change him. As I lifted up his legs he farted and pushed a load more out straight up the cuff on my sleeve.......it was disgusting. I didn't know what to do next, sort out my dripping pooey arm or wipe his bum. I was shouting to DH to come and help but he couldn't hear me through the double glazing. Fortunately I didn't have to wait too long till he came in and took over Jack's bot and I went to wash and change. We still laugh about that now.

For all you girly parents, how would you change a girl with a runny bum, as there are a lot more creases and crevices for a runny poo to hide in. I am worried about mmissing a bit and infection, but at the same time I don't want to wipe too much as can't that destroy the good bacteria in the girly bits. I need to borrow a baby girl and get some practise, for some reason its worrying me.

I was worried about this too, after having 2 boys then discovering I was expecting a girl.

Her labia are pushed really tight together, so usually the poo doesn't manage to get in between them. Just a wipe over is sufficient, then the creases round the outside of them, and the usual leg creases and bottom area.

I've only had a couple of nappies where the poo has managed to get into her girly bits, so I've had to push her labia apart with my finger and thumb and gently clean in there.

Always remember to wipe front to back, so you don't risk accidentally pushing poo into her bits!

It's honestly not that difficult, and once you get used to it, it's just as easy as changing boys.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Having had two girls and then a boy i found changing girls really easy, but the first time i changed my sons nappy and the cold air hit him he weed right up and into his face. He's 4 now and still loves me to tell him about it.

Seriously bay, don't worry about the poo :rotfl:You just get to know where to go with the wipes!! And even when DH or grandma does one and doesn't clean quite as thoroughly as I would, it doesn't cause infections. Really, it isn't that bad.

I'd be terrified of changing a boy what with the squirty equipment and all!!

Oh I know all about boys' squirty bits... :o :rotfl: When DH first went back to work after his paternity leave with DS1, I had to bath him by myself the first night - terrifying for a first-time mum! Took his clothes and nappy off on his mat and turned away for two seconds. Turned back and saw his FOREHEAD was soaking wet. Panicked like you wouldn't believe - I thought it was sweat... :o I actually phoned DH and told him to come home - I was convinced it was something really serious. Only when DH got back I realised the little monkey had peed all over his head. I'll never forget that - how embarassing. :o

And DS2 did an enormous squirty poo all over himself, me and our bed when he was a newborn. Oh the things you have to endure with kids... :rotfl:

I've put my baby in a cot in his own room for the first time tonight! :o

We've been co-sleeping since birth as I'm breastfeeding and he didn't settle in his moses basket. He's sleeping for longer now - he went from 10pm to 5am last night- so I'm trying him in his own room to see how he gets on!

I've already had to check on him twice to make sure he's okay! :o My OH is away tonight so it'll be really strange to have the whole bed to myself. Bet I won't be able to sleep!

I'm not really on here - I'm tidying the house up honestly! :o

Anyway - just to report on last night...He slept like a dream from 11pm to 6am! (I also managed to sleep and didn't wake up at all!)

Our eldest actually woke me up to tell me that the baby was crying at 6am! :o :rotfl:

As for squirty poo - all of DS2's poos are volatile - He's squirted all up the side of the bath before now and often ends up with poo all up his back! Lovely!
