Hi everyone,
Hope you don't mind me posting, but posted on the pregnancy site and it is very quiet at the moment. Think some of you ladies might have some experience of what i am going to ask.
Had an amnio on Friday (tough decision) to which my OH didnt' want me to have. Anyway, results are back and OK, but now i am terrified of miscarrying. I am a very negative person and think that i will be in limbo for the next three weeks. Even after that period if i get there I know i will worry that something will be wrong with baby that won't be discovered until he is born. Can't put my feet up for 3 weeks as got 3 kids. So scared - keep reading up on the internet and there is so much conflicting info. Sorry, i only seem to post about depressing stuff.now mum of 4!!!0 -

Hey 3kids, sending a big hug to you for starters :grouphug:
My friend had a downs scare with her last pregnancy. The triple test came back with quite a high risk and they decided to have the amnio. Luckily this vastly reduced the odds and she was fine afterwards. Baby was fine.
I don't really know a lot more about this but really hope everything goes okay for you. Are the kids old enough to know you're pregnant and can you recruit them into being extra good for a short while? Perhaps bribing them? (Not something I'd normally advocate, but needs must!) Or do you have any relatives who can step in to help temporarily, even if it's just doing the school run or giving you an hour to nap during the day?
Oh, and I'd suggest not reading any more on the internet. It's obviously scaring you and won't have any effect on the outcome. You can scare yourself witless these days with reading stuff on the web and it's difficult to know what's true isn't it?
Sorry if none of this helps. Really feel for you and hope it all turns out fine. Will keep everything crossed.

<hugs> 3 kids.
One of my friends has had 2 amnios on her second and third pregnancies due to risk of life limiting genetic illness. Both of the children came through the amnio with no problems and are now 4 and 2...:D
Please try not to worry too much - as you know statistically you're way way more likely to have no problems after the amnio. And as Lu T says stop researching it now - you made your decision for very good reasons, and now is the time to let it all go and hope for the best. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
Hi, thanks for the replies. One of the signs of miscarriage is leaking fluid. I have had to have thrush treatment for 5 consecutive nights and and pieces of the pessaries are coming out of me (TMI) which obviously make me feel damp and i am wondering are there fluids there too. If anybody knows how much fluid would come out please let me know. Thanksnow mum of 4!!!0

I had thrush when pg with DD1 at about 24 weeks and was convinced I was leaking fluid. I couldn't say how much came out, but it seemed that everytime I wiped it was wet. In the end I went to hospital and they checked me out - with a speculum to ensure the cervix was shut. It was, so my mind was put at rest. Don't sit there worrying yourself sick, speak to your mw or talk to someone at the hospital. And I echo Lu, try not to look stuff up on the net, it scares the living daylights out of you. When I was pregnant with DD2 I had to go back for a second scan with the consultant as the first 20 week scan found a mildly echogenic bowel. They told me it was probably nothing, and not to worry about a thing, but I came home and looked it up and found out it was a marker for Downs. I then spent 3 weeks until the next scan worrying, for nothing as it turned out.
I'm sure everything will be fine, try to keep calm and rest as much as you can.0 -
been the the loo to change my knickers (sorry too much info again). I have had a lot of the thrush pessary coming out throughout the day but also it seems a bit wet. Am going to monitor it and if i think it is watery call my midwife. Don't really want to do this because then if it turns out to be nothing and something happens again i will think twice before calling her. I always end up in tears. Am supposed to use a pessary tonight too but am going to give that a miss.
Sorry, i know this part of the site is about parenting and there is a pregnancy bit. Don't want to get told off!!now mum of 4!!!0 -
Don't apologise for asking - it's an unofficial thread started by Our Founder Member Lu anyway... and everyone on here has done the pregnancy bit so we're all graduates!
When I had it, the discharge being produced was extremely watery, hence my thinking it was amniotic fluid. When they checked me out they told me that you can get all sorts of weird discharge during pregnancy and watery can be normal. But don't be worried to seek reassurance from the mw, that's one of the things they're there for. I bet they deal with tearful expectant mums all the time, pregnancy is a bit of an emotional roller coaster at the best of times let alone after you've had the trauma of an amnio.0 -
I agree with Purple - perhaps if you got yourself checked out you'd feel less stressed and things would be better all round?
I'm sure it would put your mind at ease and then you could treat your thrush again tonight without worrying. It's uncomfortable at the best of times, so I pity you having it when you're pregnant. I'm sure the MW or your local ante-natal ward would happily check you out. The stress won't be good for you or baby right now.
Let us know how you get on.

Don't think i still have thrush as i am on my fifth pessary.
Rang midwife who thought that if it was my waters it would be a constant stream. Changed underwear several times and i do seem to have a wet patch in each pair but not streaming. Gonna monitor it and see if i get any more and then might ring hospital to check. Hospital is so far away that i can't just nip down so don't want to be hasty.
Hope your eyes are feeling better purplepatch. We parents tend to pick up all these lovely things from our kids. I can remember feeling devestated the first time my kids got nits from school - now they are just a mild inconvenience.
Regarding water - i think babies will drink when they are thirsty. They definitely need more when it is warm, but don't despair. I used to give my son a small beaker (from boots) with a soft lid and when tipped it would just drop into his mouth so he would at least get a little bit.now mum of 4!!!0
