How on earth do you win all that stuff?! Is there a trick you could share?
Well done on your baby's birth BTW. Midwives really should learn to trust us sometimes!

I've tried giving Charlotte water in a bottle and she won't have it.
Then I've tried giving water in the Tommee Tippee cup, but she just prefers to shake it so the water splashes on her forehead
I drink water by the pint glass, and my boys have cheap plastic beakers. If you hold either of them up to her mouth, she'll drink water from them. I think she just likes being the same as everyone else. A baby with a pint glass looks so funny though :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
purplepatch wrote: »She's a bit better today thanks Michelle.... doctor confirmed my diagnosis yesterday but it's our practice's policy not to give anything for conjunctivitis unless it's really bad as apparently there's a nasty side effect and also it tends to clear up within 5 days whether you treat it or not. She said to phone her tomorrow if had got any worse and she'll do a script for me to pick up in case it's needed over the weekend. So poor Izzy isn't looking her best and is getting lots of suspicious looks from other mums even though she's tucked up in her pushchair. Apparently is only the bacterial one that is spread easily, and the docs best guess was that hers is viral. So keeping everything crossed that the rest of the family don't get it.
Guess who's got BRIGHT RED eyes today :mad::mad::mad::mad:
And it ain't DD1, DD2 or DH?!?
They are so scratchy and uncomfortable.... I'm being so careful not to touch them as I don't want DD1 to catch it and have to miss school.0 -
I've had it before purplepatch and it's horrible. You feel like you could scratch your eyes out even though you can't touch them. Hope it clears up soon.
Do you use make-up? I got told to throw away my mascara and wash all my brushes, in case there were any germs lurking in them! Here I go again on my own....0 -

Oh no, I got a lovely freebie mascara the other week. Mind you I only used it on Saturday and the conjunctivitis didn't start til today, do you think that will be ok?!?
On closer inspection I only seem to have it in my left eye. Expect it will spread to the other one even though I'm doing my utmost not to touch them and washing my hands regularly.
And I have a cold starting..... again!!! I've only just got over the last one :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Not run down at all me :rotfl:0 -

Hi all, I'm relatively new here. My only child, Jessica has just turned one  can't believe it! And I was after a little advice re. bottles/milk etc. Oh and I've just become familiar with the pad-pad-pad noise too!
I've switched her onto a mixture of cows milk and formula which she readily accepts from a bottle, no bother. My problem is... my own fault I think, a) she WILL not settle in bed without her bottle (but sleeps 7 til 8 through the night, has done since she was 6 weeks), i.e. I take it from her when she drops off and b) I cannot get her to use a cup/beaker, she really struggles. It just goes everywhere, this has been going on for weeks! How hard do I need to try re. the cup thing? Never give her her milk in a bottle again? And as for the bedtime bottle bit, shall I stop feeding her in her bedroom completely? Dug myself bit of a hole!
Any help appreciated. K xx
I had this trouble with my grandson. I just kept on persisting with the cup - tried loads of different ones but he eventually got the idea. He used to get soaked! I didn't use a spout just helped him drink with the two handled cup. It took ages, but maybe you need to keep trying every couple of weeks until it seems she is more ready. The night bottle was a bit more difficult. I gradually diluted the milk until it was just water and now he just has a sports bottle of water by his bed that he can have if he gets a bit dry as he is a real mouthbreather and sometimes wakes in the night. Once he got the idea of cup drinking he then learned to use a spout and then a straw with relatively less hassle. If it's any consolation, its much easier with a grandchild, I remember with my youngest son I dug myself into so many holes I made life ten times more difficult than it had to be but he's turned out fine despite my best efforts!0 -
