Are you breastfeeding, I had awful night sweats for the two weeks I did manage to bf Jack. Once I gave up they did as well, so that was definitely hormones. Even though I want to bf this one, its a horrid side effect. My friend who little lad is now 3 months said she had a few nights then nothing and she is still bf.
Good luck with that test. I hate waking up drenched.....yuk. There is nothing pleasant about childbirth and the months after related to our bodies anyway.0 -
I had night sweats for about two or three weeks I think. I didn't know about them at the time so I just thought that because I was so tired I wasn't waking up when I was too hot and therefore was overheating. I was putting paper hankies in my bra to soak up all the moisture0

I'd say don't stress about it as they will be ready one day, just because the HV advice is to do stuff by such and such a time, I learnt from bitter experience with DD1 that sometimes it is just not worth the frustration and to just go with the flow. They all get there in the end. I think the thing with bottles is that they can harm the development of teeth, cause tooth decay etc so obviously there is that to bear in mind.
Thanks purplepatch, yes it is a lot because you feel your baby should be doing certain things at certain stages... she just spits it all out as soon as she gets any out of a cup but once she has the same in a bottle...
Thanks tho!!0 -
Hi girls, had a bit of a nightmare with my laptop so have just had to catch up on nearly a week of posts.
Glad scans have gone well. I'm a bit jealous - feeling broody, but don't want the sickness/lethargy/general-not-feeling-up-to-it!
For those looking into double buggies, my Mother & Baby has a review this month and the Mamas & Papas Twin Pulse came out top. It's quoted at £200. The Graco Stadium Duo also came out well. (£139.99) These are both side-by-side buggies. The Hame Twin Two only got 5.5/10. It was marked down because it's heavy and difficult to steer - esp. with a heavier child in the front. All three testers seemed to have probs with that.
If you buy the November mag there is a 20% off at Early Learning Centre voucher which you can use up to 24 December. You can only use it once, but if, like us, you're likely to be buying half the shop for your LOs and everyone else's then it'll be worth the £2.40 cover price. thanks Lu T - we had seen the review about the double buggys too. I am still thinking of the Mclaren twin to be honest, as weighing it all up from what was said in the mag, the side by side ones are better all round, and as i am already used to the single mclaren i am sure that will be easiest.
I'll still have a problem getting whichever one in my boot as it is a fiesta flight with alloy wheels and narrow boot as a result, but it should fit in DH's estate no problems.
night sweats - i had none of that. i didn't even really know about them. so yet another thing to think about then.0 -

Don't need to buy the magazine... check out this thread here... it's a printable 20% off voucher code - I used it yesterday with no problems.

i had night sweats for about 3 weeks after the birth of DD, and for about 2 weeks after i stopped bf, the hv said it's just all the excess fluid coming out of the body.
and reguarding beakers i just gave dd hers to play with every meal time and now she drinks from it no problem, she still had milk from a bottle but the dentist said not to worry about it so long as she had all the milk in one go and not to let her sleep with it so she couldn't feed in the night, plus not to put any juice in a bottle.
she doesn't have juice, and she has a full bottle at bedtime and the bottle doesn't come back till breakfast time. i will swap to a beaker for milk when she's a bit older and no longer on formula.
ps she's nearly 1 (in 2 weeks  )0 -
i think i feel baby movements. Is ten and a half weeks too early do you think??
Not all the time, but twice today when i have been busting for the loo and sat leant forward at the computer so restricting the space a bit. Any of you guys any idea??
Bailey - when did you feel movements this time? and did you find your womb to be above the pelvis a lot earlier? I noticed when i had the scan she was a good inch or so higher than last time.0 -
generally you can feel second babies moving earlier as the uterus moves up quicker (coz it's done it before). my neighbour had a bump at 12 weeks and was in maternity clothes at 15 weeks. she's huge now and has 2 weeks left, she looks like she's having twins!0

Yes Michelle, I felt this baby moving really early from 10 weeks, I was really surprised. Now the little monkey is having a party in the early hours and waking me up, so its combined forces with its brother.
I popped out very early too, people were saying to me at 10 weeks your showing you've a bump, but I was denying it saying its all the extra food i've been eating to gain weight to bf. Now people still think I am further on than what I am at 21 weeks.
PP and Molezak, when you say that your babies won't drink from a cup, do you mean a beaker like a tommy tippee? Because Jack isn't competent enough to drink from a cup by himself, if I hold it and tip it for him some goes in the but the rest spills out. He can drink from his tommy tippee beaker well though. If you mean they won't drink from a beaker at all, then you are not alone, a friend of mine is having this problem with her 8 months old, he won't touch a beaker either. I am sorry I don't know what to suggest, but if you do find anything which helps, then please let us know so I can tell her.
On the subject of milk/water etc. Does anyone know how much milk a 1+ year should be having a day? Jack is having about 18-20oz a day currently over 4 feeds, but at a year I am thinking he should be dropping a feed. He won't drink anymore at a time if I offer so, he seems to prefer little and often to 2 big bottles night and morning. But if I start to drop a feed will he be having enough fluid? He isn't a big eater anyway compared to other babies, so I don't know what to do. Any thoughts?0
