She's a bit better today thanks Michelle.... doctor confirmed my diagnosis yesterday but it's our practice's policy not to give anything for conjunctivitis unless it's really bad as apparently there's a nasty side effect and also it tends to clear up within 5 days whether you treat it or not. She said to phone her tomorrow if had got any worse and she'll do a script for me to pick up in case it's needed over the weekend. So poor Izzy isn't looking her best and is getting lots of suspicious looks from other mums even though she's tucked up in her pushchair. Apparently is only the bacterial one that is spread easily, and the docs best guess was that hers is viral. So keeping everything crossed that the rest of the family don't get it.

I really feel for you Michelle and hope the morning sickness improves soon, it's hideous isn't it. I remember thinking Never Ever Again when I had it with Iz. My poor dh, like yours, was doing everything and I felt so guilty, but I could hardly set foot in the kitchen let alone open the fridge and start cooking. But all seems a very long time ago and now with 2 kids and DH to sort out in the evening, my advice would be put your feet up and make the most of him doing everything, lol!
  • Hope all goes well with the scan tomorrow. Although generally sickness is worse with twins, there is such great variation between different people and different pregnancies that you can't really draw conclusions from how sick you are. Hope you are feeling better soon too. :grouphug:
  • I don't seriously think it is twins. It is just a huge shock feeling this rough when i didn't have it at all last time. Thanks for the good wishes for the scan, we are not expecting to see a lot as i am not even 10 weeks yet. It was a week later when we saw Charlie for the 1st time. We just want to see all is well now.
  • Our first scan with Alice was at seven weeks (due to sickness) and she looked like a baked bean.

Scant consolation I'm sure, but I remember reading that sickness is a good sign that all is going well with the pregnancy. Hope all goes well and there aren't 2 of them! (Still think you're having a girl though!)

Quick question for you Michelle, and anyone else with similar age babies, how much milk do you find they are taking a day? Izzy's milk consumption is dropping right off now which is to be expected, but can't remember what the HVs advise re how much they should be getting. Just finishing off the formula that's in the cupboard, then cow's milk here we come :money:.

I remember with Olivia thinking that she might not like it, but she didn't so much as bat an eyelid at the change in flavour.
  • I have just switched Charlie to cows milk, and noticed he is drinking more than he did of the formula.

In a morning he has about 8oz, and is happy with that. On an evening, he has a 9oz followed by perhaps another 3 or 4 oz of it.

I also tried to make him have it from one of his sippy cups last night, he had one cup fine, but then had the biggest paddy you can imagine. So i ended up giving in and making him the bottle.

My sister had real bother with her little boy getting him to take cows milk at first and was buying the aptamil follow on stuff. I didn't want to make that mistake with charlie, so we went down the route of giving him a bottle that was mostly formula, and then topping up with cows milk, and he has been fine as we have changed the quantities. I don't think he has noticed. At the moment we are warming the cows milk for 30s in a jug in the microwave to take the chill off as he fusses at it straight from the fridge.

I don't know what the recommended amount is when they hit 1. I think it was 18-24 oz a day the last time i checked for about 9 months, so i think i had best have a word with the health visitor the next time i make it to baby clinic.

    hope i was some help.

You were of help Michelle, thanks.

From memory when Olivia was fully established on solids, I think I was told a pint of milk per day but my memory isn't great these days. If it is a pint, that's about 20oz and Izzy isn't doing that much, although I don't suppose she's too far off. She has 6oz when she wakes up in the morning, 6oz at bedtime and usually wakes for 6oz at my own bedtime:rolleyes:. I suppose if I could sneak an extra 6oz in during the day that might stop her waking up for one.... it's just difficult to know when, what with mealtimes, naps and school pickups. Got to try to find a good time to do it

Isn't it just - I can't believe it was all happening a year ago, where has that time gone?
