You won't find all the apps on the app store on android, you'll find some,

I am not missing any and one poor sap has installed 1000 plus on his SGS2 .

Games yes IPhone for obvious reasons leads the way .

But its a users choice pros and cons to everything you buy for me the cons of Apple outweighed its pros .The OP may think totally different .

Sales figures for SGS2 in the three months it has been out are six million plus so one or two like it . Those sort of figures and the huge amount of market share for Android suggest many prefer it even if their are less apps in the market .

  • Guys I like iPhone personally. It's a awesome set looking nice.
All the iPhone applications I use are correctly performed. Overall it's perfect for all aged people.

I think the uniformed would easily be swayed into the Galaxy S screen was better too, which can also be wrong. It's a trade off between colours that "pop" (and aren't entirely realistic) or very sharp text (with more realistic colours).

These is a slight green cast to the greyscale, but aport from that there is nothing wrong with the colours on my SGS1, and the black is beautiful to behold, which along with the 180 degree viewing angle more than makes up for any other deficiencies it may have. Text is nice and sharp too.

As another poster pointed out, Samsung make the screens for the iphones, but they keep the best technology for themselves (S-AMOLED).

Plus the SGS2 is thinner and lighter than the iphone4, which according to Apple's advertising (until recently) was a big issue, but now they claim it's not important. Says it all really.

Blacks are great on the SGS but colours can be rather exaggerated and over-saturated, which for people who are after colour accuracy is a big no-no. Sadly the SGS screen isn't anywhere near as sharp as the iPhone 4.
  • I'm making my first leap into smartphone territory and am getting bogged down with information! I've come down to two possibilities - the iphone 3gs (32gb) or Samsung Galaxy S II. I haven't considered an iphone 4 - maybe I should? I want to keep my current number on PAYG so am looking for a sim free phone, refurbished is fine.

Do any of you smartphone experts have any advice to offer?

    Thanks for your help.

Wouldn't bother with a 3gs. It's overpriced and underspeced. I like the S2, it's a fantastic phone. The iPh4 is alright if you're an Apple fan and don't mind the occasional dropped phone call.
Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)

Why don't you wait until the iphone 5 comes out? Even if you don't buy it, you might want to see what it does to the prices of the other handsets that you have mentioned.

By the way, have you considered giffgaff? That's the network I'll be moving over to as soon as I am released from my o2 contract.

I'm not sure if the other handsets (particularly the 3GS/4) will be affected much, it seems that Apple handsets hold their value very well.

Thanks for info on network but I'm sticking with Vodafone as they have the most reliable coverage where I am.
