I don't use many minutes or texts at all, but want a phone just to play with the Apps, use the maps, mobile internet etc.....yes, I want a toy!

Usage wise, 100 mins is plenty.

Can't decide on which to go for. I know iphone folk are very protective, but in honesty, are the Android apps ag good?

I've got the SGS2 and it's a great phone, nice big crisp screen, dual core 1.2 processor so it's quick.

App wise, the apps you'll find on itunes are in the Android Market. You'll find Tesco and other UK shops, BBCi Player, ITV Player,Virgin Media,Times, ebay, paypal,Amazon, post office and loads of other apps like BBC News,ITN News,National Geographic TV,UEFA apps for sport, rugby app from Aviva apps ,cricket app from ECB

Game wise, you'll find the big game publishers on there, EA,Gameloft and games such as cut the rope,Jenga. You'll also get things like spotify, shazam etc etc along with all the apps from the smaller developers that have apps on itunes too. The only thing you can't do is buy a coffee with your phone at starbucks!

Take a look here, https://market.android.com/apps and just take a look around and look for the apps you would want.

    I have the SGS2, also.

My OH has an iPhone 4. The SGS2 is faster, much brighter and more vivid screen, camera and video quality are nothing short of stunning; leaves the iPhone 4's cam quality for dead. It's thinner and lighter than the iPhone 4, too, and despite being taller and wider, feels smaller in the pocket due to it's weight and thinness.

There are many more free apps available for the SGS2, aswell, many of equal or better quality than those available for the iPhone 4.

Not to mention, it isn't proprietary; so you can use the bluetooth properly (iPhones only communicate with other iPhones over Bluetooth), and don't need stupid bloated custom software to access the contents of the phone.

My OH offered to swap the iPhone 4 with my SGS2 - I've declined the offer.

    'Nuff said ;)

Iphone 4 is over a year old now, so the SGS2 really should be the better phone, and it probably is better, by a minuscule amount.
The Iphone has the better screen and better selection of premium apps, has better build quality, and just feels a lot better in the hand that the plasticy SGS2

Samsung also has a habit of not letting you update to the latest Android versions, and when they do they're usually months being Google phones - Samsung is currently working on updating the SGS2 to Android 2.3.4, which is about 4 months old.

Hold off a couple of months for the Iphone 5.

I'd agree with this. The iPhone 4 is over a year old now so it's definitely worth waiting to see what the new iPhone is like.

An iphone will be what Steve Jobs wants it to be so you won't get drag and drop, bluetooth or flash. There is also no such thing as a premium app. As for apps, what you find on an iphone you'll find on Android but it all comes down to what you want to do. Take both the Android Market and itunes, filter out all the fart apps etc and they are more or less the same. For example, Apple Store: 89,996 SexyGirlTimePhoto Apps.Android Market: 294 Sexy girl time photo apps. I'll stick with the Android and the apps i actually need.

As for the iphone 5, it will be what the Galaxy S 2 is now and the HTC Sensation but with a higher asking price. Samsung are also getting ready to release their 1.5 dual core phone, the nexus prime if i'm right.

Apple may well have started the smartphone craze but Samsung and HTC do a better job at them now. I used to have an iphone and i hated the way it was locked down. As for your 100 mins, the price tag of an iphone isn't the way to go.

Apple don't think people should be able to transfer files with bluetooth. Ironic since they've introduced a similar feature in Lion for laptops....

For me, better buy iPhone. There are plenty of apps that you can choose. Not to mention that it is easy to use. Androids are good too but I will choose iPhone.

How many websites nowadays use flash ? Why is drag and drop essential. Icloud will take care of all of that for us iphone users. And of course apple arent going to allow bluetoothing of files since it would ruin their itunes business.

Id rather have a phone that would be unsupported by the manufacturer in the way of updates

The apps on ios are much more well done as developers take time and are paid well for their efforts. Much better qulality apps on ios as opposed to greater risk of viruses from andoid apps

Again all just personal preferencr but in my opinion the iphone is a much better option. Specs count for nothing if the phone doesnt have the apps to support it

I have an iPhone 3GS 32gb and an Orange San Francisco running Ginger Stir Fry Gingerbread (Android 2.3.4). I use the iPhone as my 'serious' phone and the OSF as my toy. The iPhone is great because it just works, but the OSF is great fun because if something doesn't work there are usually plenty of ways to make it work (apps, tweaks, modifications, upgrades and so on - usually free - almost completely customisable). There are many, many more things to try with an android 'phone because it's all open source, but because of this some modifications don't work as they should, some can improve the 'phone dramatically - this is why it's so much fun!
I'd say that in general Android is improving daily - literally. The downside to this is that your brand new 'phone is obsolete in months, unlike my two year old iPhone. Having said that there are lots of people keeping 'old' androids alive.
So; I love my Android because I can make work it the way I want it to, and I love my iPhone because it works the way I expect it to!
Oh yes, and I can't get Sky Mobile TV on my Android. Or my Facebook, Twitter, email, messaging, weather and search widgets on the homescreen of my iPhone.
If it's a toy you want you'll get more hours of fun with an Android.
