I got the email myself I don’t use the AOL software just sign on via the modem and have Outlook set to get my AOL emails etc…

I have to be honest I only skimmed through the email that they sent. My AOL 3rd year contract ends in May and I have planned to change to BT for sometime (mainly for a better service)… so reading this about the T&C is good for me now as might be able to bin AOL off sooner!

In the T&C's it says the hardware is yours after the cooling period of 14 days is over at the start  I'm in the same boat but for £9.99 can't find anyone as cheap :o

I would like to add that anyone thinking of joining NTL or TW for their £10 bb offer should know that NTL/TW are also (sometime in the future) going to be throttling high users by way of their FUP. Similar to that of AOL are doing in Feb.

The difference is that it's not very clear just what throttling NTL/TW will be doing and when. I believe that both NTL/TW already have a FUP but it was never enforced so if this is true that means you wouldn't be able to get out of any contract as the FUP already existed when signing up.

If only we lived in a cable area... unfortunately our entire region doesn't have cable, and no plans to change that either :wall: :(

There is not now for me! :j

I just called AOL cancellation services on 0870 320 20 20 to talk about cancelling my account with the new Terms and Conditions that had been put in place. In all honesty they don’t affect me as I don’t download a lot and use less then 10GB a month.

I was thinking of moving anyway as had some bad service last year so it was a tad off putting, so I figured this was the ideal chance to escape 5 months earlier.

Spoke to a really nice guy (I think located in the middle of India) who after much talking offered my Silver package at £9.99 a month for the next 12 months + also one month free this month!

Decided to stop with them now… see how it goes with CPW taking over….

I suppose three bouts of poor customer service in 4 years is not so bad ;)

    So a saving of £8 a month + a free month!

I advise anyone on AOL who wants to stay to call and plead for a better offer as if your going to leave!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was 5 months into a silver contract with aol. Already had got 2 free wireless routers (as they thought first one was faulty, which wasn't) cost £14.99 a mth. I called them yesterday and the chap in india would let me leave if I wanted to, but have been offered silver package for a further 12 mths contract at £9.99 a mth, which I jumped at. In all honestly I have been on aol both on dialup and on broadband for in total 6 years (with a break of one year due to winning a years free broadband with bt) I have found them to be the tops getting many a free month when I phoned up threatening to leave. That price at £9.99 can't be beaten, though download speeds are only 1 mbit. Most isp for that price will only allow a 2gb a month cap.

Lets hope it stays that way with aol as maybe I'll have to eat my words, but so far I'm happy with them.
