Lynz, does it never end for you? I will pop out the biggest bottle of champers ever when you do exchange and complete...
LeftieM, sorry to hear about your problems. What is the deal with your buyer anyway? I am not British (OH is) but I have indefinite leave to remain and no one seemed to question that!
I haven't abandoned you guys yet. We are now getting used to the longer commute! And the house is coming along slowly and surely. OH just bought a flat screen for the living room after a lot of pleading and begging.

Congratulations to all of you. It's great to see some progress.
Unlike us.....
We've had a rather traumatic day. We now suspect that our buyer is going through an application for residency in the UK - no-one is telling us much (well we've been told a pack of lies and buyer's mortgage adviser seems to be out of the office a lot and doesn't return calls). Whatever it is it involves the Home Office and we don't know how long it will take. Our vendor is deciding over the weekend whether she'll give our buyer a week to get a mortgage offer or whether she'll remarket her house. So in desperation we're going to put a letter through her door explaining what has happened. Our buyer isn't going to get a mortgage offer next week.
Our buyer is upset as she knows we'll have to drop her. I think we've been lied to in the hope that she'd get whatever from the HO and we might be none the wiser, or once the ball was rolling we would wait for her. Now it looks like the chain will collapse.
I'm surprised that I don't feel angry. I just cry when I think of the lovely house that will slip through our fingers. Still that was always a risk when we began this process so hopefully, whatever happens, we'll look back and think that it all turned out for the best in the long run.
This is leftie, over and (probably) out.Stercus accidit0 -
Oh leftie
what an effing nightmare. I feel for you I know what its like- that limbo is it happening or not :grouphug:
I know this is probalby a bit tricky but can you speak to your buyer.
Im going to be trying to do so this/next week- as I know what chinese whispers can be like and I also believe if I jobs worth doing..... Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I feel for the buyer really. She sees house prices shooting up here and wants to jump on while she can. I suppose she hopes someone will wait for her. She's lost one sale already, I presume for the same reason. Still, she's duped us in the process. We have her mobile and spoke to her once (and found out about this visa issue). We sent a text asking her to contact us about this yesterday but no response. We'll try phoning today. It won't change anything I suspect. She's going to a different bank on Monday to ask for a mortgage but I don't see how that will help (and why didn't she do this in the middle on December when this issue must have arisen??) The Home Office isn't going to expedite the matter - it's not their problem if people go around putting offers in on houses!Stercus accidit0

leftieM you may have lost a sale and you dream house here .
All you can do is remarket your house and put the price up.
House prices in Northern Ireland have totally changed in 2 years .There are weekly and monthly increases and some houses ( depending on the area )are selling for £30,000 over the asking price .
Good luck0 -
If only those price rises applied only to the house you're selling and not the one you're buying! Our house (type) just hasn't done anywhere near as well as other houses in our area. We're in danger of being priced out of a bigger house anywhere in Belfast (I mean it may take 80k now when it was 60k in September when we had sale agreed, and we don't have that.)
Oh well - hopefully it will work out in the long run.Stercus accidit0 -
My heart goes out to your Leftie, with all the monthly rises in house prices in NI, there must very more stressful than in England etc.0

hi folks
sorry to hear everyone is still having problems. it is such a long frustrating process. i went to see my solicitor on wednesday and she informed me that all the paper work etc is up to date.
everyone in my chain are working towards completing on the 12th January.
question: this does mean i get the keys on friday, does it?
there are only 3 people in our chain
first time buyer buying our house
us
people selling their house to us.
solicitor tells me the 1st time buyer is signing the contract for our house on monday and has asked us to be on call so that we can pop in and sign and accept her contract to purchase our house.
after that - the solicitor hasnt told me what happens
i assume that we can then sign for our new house and the contract then foes to the seller to accept. (is that right?)0 -
leftie i know what you mean. northern ireland property market has gone nuts. we are in Derry and the prices are crazy.0
