Can another newbie join the party
Have finally read through both threads  So pleased to see that those who were having such a hard time are now sorted - Congrats all :T
The story so far - my partner and I, currently renting, looking to buy - been viewing since Oct last year  , got gazumped on one and back to drawing board. As you can see from my sig.. we've now progressed somewhat
From what we understand (waiting to be confirmed) there isn't a chain as such, as the seller isn't currently in the house.
Have done all we can for now at our end, and the next key moments I think are seeing the survey / contract & inventory once the solicitor gets them, and making sure they've instigated the searches !
Hoping to be done n dusted by end March__________________________________________________

Well done Mrs Optimist, at least you will know where you stand now. :T
Good luck everyone, it's so stressful but maybe (like childbirth?) you forget the pain once you get the result you want! :beer:Don't see the point anymore in offering advice to people who only want to be agreed with...0 -
Still no word from the EA but at least we have made a stand now. I hope you are right MJMUM, I feel happier now we are in control - regardless of whether our buyer pulls out or not, it is no time for a head in the sand approach, I felt the need to confront the issue head-on.. It is just SO stressful. Good Luck to anyone currently in the nightmare that is moving home!0

I sympathise Mrs O - am currently pulling my hair out as our buyer (who allegedly wants to complete 'ASAP') is still dragging his heels. Feel like all I've said this year is 'well hopefully we'll get a date this week....'0

Finally got back online after the move on 1st Feb. Moving went smoothly although its taken us 2 weeks to unpack properly and now decorating out first room, 2nd daughters bedroom (boxed room) in bright pink, lol.
What a carry on with broadband and telephone, despite two weeks notice to Bt and Zen (broadband) BT messed it up with transfer of old number, that sorted within days, although broadband took until today to fix at exchange. Good job we knew the BT engineer who thankfully is coming back later (as a favour) to lay more cabling around the house for router rather than what we are using slow wireless at present.
Anyhow just settled in and this morning we got a leak in a flat roof above the bay window only small leak but we need it fixing before it gets worse. Lit our first real fire what a disaster that was.
Hope everyone is okay.0 -
Evening all!
Better day today - our buyer has realised that things just were not happening at his end and has played up merry hell with his mortgage advisor and solicitor - upshot is the survey will be early next week and his sols called our sols yesterday to confirm they HAD been instructed, HAD received the draft contract and our buyer had told them in no uncertain terms to get on with it. He is in rented and apparantly (According to EA who clled today) has to vacate his rented accommodationn by 1st Mrach so wants to complete by then (Pigs might fly, there is NO chance of completing by then but exchange would be nice) so all in all it APPEARS to be back on track. Am very excited now - a house in the same road as the one we are buying in was on for £40K more in last nights local property paper, only difference is it has central heating and a newer kitchen - so all in all it should work out that we got the bargain of the year AND a lovely home to boot. Just keeping everything crossed until exchange now.
Hello Poppycat, nice to see you back!0 -
Unfortunately I have to report I'm out now, my vendor's have pulled out and it's all over. Should have seen the writing on the wall I guess as my solicitor and I have been stonewalled since Christmas.
I also found out on the first morning of a three day business trip as well, so couldn't even really do much about it.
So I'm back to square one again, over three months after my offer was accepted, and back to pounding the streets looking for somewhere else.0 -

Sorry it hasn't worked out for you. We were in the same position 5 weeks ago. I was 6 months pregnant, packed up and ready to go when our vendors pulled out. I couldn't speak to anyone for a couple of days I was that upset.
We did find somewhere else though, and that all seems to be going though at lightning speed ( good job really as I am now 7 months pregnant and still ready to go!). You will find somewhere else, hopefully better, and you'll be glad that the other one didn't work out. Just hope that the roof caves in on them or something! I can't believe how heartless people can be when you've spent money on their property.
Hope it works out well for you and keep us posted.Accepted offer on our house - Sept 2006
