If its any concellation I do feel same as you dkny although I have completed yet, any day soon all being well. I cant help but think something else will go wrong

I am so tempted to ring solictor to find out whats happening as we were hoping to move before Christmas or at least get everything sorted.

We have all sorts of problems like.

    1. Seller asked for more money (full asking price) and thus relented on a previous price we agreed on, we had to agree on that or possible loose house. Very few 3 bedroom semis on market at that time and veen now it aint changed.

    2. Found our house has a water meter so concerned about possible increase in water bills for a family of 4.

    3. Mortgage fees shot up

    4. Found possible problem in loft of house we are buying, had a expert look at it, and it will cost £360 a lot of cash for us, buyer wont pay as they claim that expert said they couldn't find anything, yet survey pulled up on it and to get expert opinion which we did, we have no idea what the loft is like.

    5. Problems with some sort of covedent with our kitchen extension, we have no knowledge of this and extension is 13 years old and was supervised by the council when built. Thats now sorted

I just cant help feel so negative, what else can go wrong. I hate house buying now, never again, we dont even have a damn chain either side and our buyers have been very good so far.

We had a good start, got buyer straight away. Now I even suspect a legal bill will be more than we wanted, I hate all this money paying out this and that, when you ain't got a lot to start with its a huge drain, we didn't even have a Christmas as we decided to put all our money on the house.

Poppycat- I do understand how you are feeling, our fees have suddenly shot up compared to what we were told at the start...I really hope everything goes to plan, to be honest, i will be well happy once thise keys are in my hand thats when the worrry is well and truly over till then i think its gonna be stress, worrying and sleepless nites...

Good luck and please keep us posted :)

Right we are almost there to complete according to solicitor, 2 issues left, my buyer has to tell there solicitor and report to mine that they are happy with the sale. The issue of the bettle infestation allegedly has to be sorted yet. Solicitor said he hops to get this all sorted by next week, fingers crossed.

I hope this is sorted soon, the stress, negativity is a bloody killer.

    Lynz any news yet?

  • Hello to everyone here and good luck to you all with your purchases!

I'm going through the same process at the moment and it's driving me mad. My boyfriend and I put on offer on a 2 bed flat which was accepted at the end of August 2006. We were due to complete 22nd December 2006, but 1 week before that, our vendor pulled out of his purchase because the roof on the extension caved in. He's found another property to buy, but the estate agent told us that it would take a few months for that to go through.... so now we're just left waiting.... It's so annoying.

Nope nothing my end. Basically this is the synopsis of where we are at.

just before Xmas, ( thurs PM) I got an email asking for 170odd quid to pay the headlessor for a report. I ummed and ahhed over Xmas then it transpired it does look like I have to pay it.

The cheque was sent, then I wrongly dated it :wall: and I resent. It arrived with my sols this morning.

Sols emailed me to say they have done a faxed request to the head lessor, and the report should be back with my sol begining of next week.

my buyers sols doesnt reopen till the 10th. ( ie wednesday) so nothing is happening there.

Once the report comes back and its in the sols, then voila I can start getting the EA to turn screws with my buyer with a view ( AHEM!) to exchanging at the tail end of next week. If we dont exchange then, we will loise the rented house for sure which will be emotionally and financailly devastating.

    Congratulations dkny! Congrats Jam! :j

Lynz, does it never end for you? I will pop out the biggest bottle of champers ever when you do exchange and complete...

LeftieM, sorry to hear about your problems. What is the deal with your buyer anyway? I am not British (OH is) but I have indefinite leave to remain and no one seemed to question that!

I haven't abandoned you guys yet. We are now getting used to the longer commute! And the house is coming along slowly and surely. OH just bought a flat screen for the living room after a lot of pleading and begging.

    Hurrah

Update from me. Mortgage has been approved (great as I've just turned freelance!). I've now instructed the solicitor to start the searches.

Hope things get better for you lynzpower. Love the new avatar :) Though I do get easily confused when people's avatars change!
