I am worried that they have stored my card details! Is that the norm? I never saved them to my travel lodge account.0

I agree with those who are angry about a lack of a blanket warning email...what about those who don't read MSE and check their banks every day? I really hope that those who have incurred charges can get them refunded swiftly, and those without access to their own money (thanks for stealing it, travelodge) are able to find alternative sources for a few days...hopefully it will be back in your accounts tomorrow.
The lack of contact shows the usual Travelodge disregard for customers. We can't even get through on the phone. One call we held for 7mins only to be cut off, another for 14mins. Thank goodness we found the "alternative" number listed earlier in this thread. Travelodge should at the very least email affected customers, but quite frankly I think stolen money should be taken a bit more seriously!GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

Yes, I think it is very serious and has affected many, many customers...simply just refunding us isn't good enough - they need to address this properly and tell us how on earth it happened and that it will never happen again! Concerning that a member of TL staff blamed it on a customer's bank - clearly this incident involves customers of several different banks so not the case!
The LTSB guy I spoke to said something about receipts being processed twice. A bit like when you have made a transaction and end up pressing the back or refresh button and are consequently charged again - you don't expect that to happen with a massive, reputable firm 5 weeks later though!! And yeah, seems they do store our card details - even when we don't ask them to.0 -
When I spoke to Travelodge they blamed it on HSBC and said it will be HSBC who are reimbursing people for chargesI seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be0

What shocks me is that customer service is all email based so you would expect that they would have a large dedicated team who would quickly reply to emails. Some companies get a reply out to you within 2 hours, I sent the email at 9 this morning and have had no reply yet, even a basic one would be a start.
I know they probably wont but does anyone think they should compensate us in terms of vouchers etc for their problems. Just because their system (or more importantly a person working for them) decides that they want to take payments from everyone again why should we be without our own cash for at least 24 hours?
Makes you wonder what else they dont tell you if they are trying to hide this (ie not sending out a blanket email)?0 -
I've posted twice elsewhere on the forum about this already. Same thing happened to me. £68 taken out of my account this morning that already came out last month (booked on the last sale). I informed them of the error via their online system and received an email back asking for further details of the deductions, bank card no. etc. - was a bit worried about giving information over email but assumed it was their !!!!-up and not a fraud issue. This is so unacceptable. I am fortunate to have not been overdrawn despite it being close to my pay day. I agree, a simple refund will not be acceptable.0

Hope you Guys are given free rooms for the hassle.
Good luck.

Hi sabre50
Not sure if you already have, but I would defo NOT put my card details in a normal email, as it's not secure like a payments page 'should' be. (Apart from the one by Travelodge!)0 -
Someone at work here has just checked their bank as they booked on 10th June. They have also been charged; however checking back, it doesn't appear they were ever charged in the first place so she's actually a bit disappointed as she thought it had already been paid.0

My DH noticed this morning that 2 payments of £15 had been taken out of account yesterday.
Yes, the same date as most of you, 9th of June and money went out on 13th June for the 2 dates we selected.
Didn't realise it was TL until I've logged in here, DH asked me had I been and bought something, cheek of him. There's no place like home
Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.
Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.0
