I dont belive it. I hadnt booked this time but booked three rooms last time .After reading comments I thought I would check my bank account and sure enough today -£45 debited to my account !!
Just called Travelodge who said a bulk payment run was made dated 9th June so payments from 9th June (first day of the last Travelodge sale) have been duplicated. They said the money should be back in our accounts by Monday.0 -
I booked 2 rooms on 10th June cost £55. (saver rooms)
This was taken from my account on 10/6 and then retaken on 13/7.
Will get on to it0 -
just called lloyds tsb, our bank has said that travelodge have advised them of what has happened and that money will be refunded in next 36 hours!! if not before!!
typical several payments due out and believe me, travelodge will be told if i have any bank charges because of them and i will expect them to pay them!!!!:mad:0 -
First I heard of this was when I logged in to LTSB online banking to see I was overdrawn on an account that has no overdraft facility! I knew I didn't have much in there but it's not even possible to go over normally so I look at transactions and see that Travelodge have today charged me £58!!
I made a booking on 9th June for £58 and the money left my account on 13th June. They have charged me for the same booking again today.
First I thought maybe fraud? But bit of a coincidence being same amount, so I used their online contact form to complain. Then called LTSB, my bank, to dispute and soon as I mentioned the word "Travelodge" he knew what I was on about! He had already spoken to 2 other customers before me. He told me that anyone who placed a booking in June has just been charged again!! And that the money will be returned within 2 days (2 working days presumably, so that's til Monday I may have to wait!) and also said I would not incur any charges, but another debit has come out (would have cleared without Travelodge fiasco) so I am worried that I WILL get charged for that one, even if I don't get charged for the Travelodge one!
Travelodge couldn't even be bothered to send out a blanket email to inform us, I had to find out from my bank having called them myself! Absolutely appalling. Shocking that this is even possible. I know I didn't have much money in my account but I knew I had enough in there to last me and then Travelodge come along and do this! Am livid and expect them to compensate me for this inconvenience and worry. I will be paid from work later today but otherwise would have had to go until Monday with no money in my account - not good!!0 -
This must be against some law out there?? Im fumeing moneys gone out without my permission! What can we even do?0

They certainly seem to have a problem, I made two bookings, three days apart, in June for stays in September, they took the money on 10th and 13th June. Found this morning my card was charged again yesterday for the first booking. Have emailed for a refund/explanation. Hope they don't do it again in a couple of days!0

When I checked my bank account this morning and noticed that another £45 had been taken from my account. My initial thought was that the money was not taken in June but a quick check through my statement showed d same amount had been taken on the 13th of June for booking made on the 9th. And I felt it was just me but at least I know its the system. What I want is a reassurance that my card has not been saved so I may request another card from Lloyds tsb. If they feel it will cost too much, they can take it up with travelodge.0

Nearly £600 has been taken from my account twice! (In respect of two block bookings made on, you've guessed it, 9 June) and another two saver nights (made around the same time but probably not on the same date). In addition, I booked a saver night today (before I realised what had happened), and have been charged £2 for using a credit card (even though it was a debit card). Not a lot of money in comparison but it's the principle. What a shower!
I'm never going near Travelodge again!0 -
They have taken money out of my account as well but there was a refund as well for a cancellation.(refund is more than debit so i am in credit
)
Lets see what will happen tomorrow0 -
Poor Patsy
I hope that you still have enough money to get you by until you are refunded. My bank have been unhelpful on that front.
I am angry enough at £58 but to have £600 come out, I would be incensed! It is a very serious matter and not just about the money it is the fact it was even possible and how they have handled it (not even contacting us to let us know but us having to investigate it ourselves - wouldn't have taken much effort to send a simple blanket email).0
