    egg refunded all my charges about 2 weeks ago!!!

    it was paid straight into my bank (not with egg). they wouldn't repay the protective payment but still, £200 in charges was nice!

    Egg have refunded my PPI charges that they said they would. Great :beer: What would be the next step in claiming charges? as I have tried to claim back £60.00 and they have only offered me £12.00

    Wow, what a shambolic group Egg seem to be.

    I requested through the online messaging copies of my statements back in April. Received a reply that it would cost £10, so I waited till i'd paid my bill and asked on 24th May for my statements to be sent. Got a reply the next day that it would be 7-10days. As this had past, I sent a message on Wed asking where they were. Received an apology and that they would be sent in 14 working days, and the £10 would be taken from my card. I responded thanking them for the quick reply, but a reminder they had 40 days from intial request to honour, so I would expect within 13 working days as that was all that was left. Received a snotty reply from one of their wonderful customer service reps that it would take 14 days, so tough (not quite them words) The bloody cheek! Made me laugh though, as i'm obviously winding someone up!

    I can't wait to get something back from Egg as they have been a pain ever since I opened my card. I asked for last months charge to be returned for going over my limit and was told no, asked that the charge for next month not be put on, as I was never going to get out of trouble if they kept charging me £16, and was practically laughed at. Egg customer services have no autonimy at all and can't do anything for you. A waste of a job if you ask me

    I've never seen that before. Is this a one off or a regular thing on your statements?

    I've only had half of mine so far, just waiting for the rest before calculating my charges

    Hi,This is my first time on the Forum and i hope someone can help me..i have been reading through the success stories for claiming back charges and decided to look through my old EGG account...in my statements there are charges for Merchandise Interest,and also Cash Interest,which come to quite a large amount each month.From what i can gather, they are charging me interest on using the card to buy things ,and as well as the charges already applied each time i draw out cash from the machine,there is a further interest charge on top of that!!!This seems incredible,and i might have read it wrong,but can anyone help clarify this for me and let me know if i can claim these charges back?The account is now closed,does this matter?...Thanks..Tonijo

    These are interest charges on purchases that are not claimable.

    The reason you have 2 (or 3) interest charges is because each is calculated on different parts of your balance and at different rates (although in practice these rates can be the same but their system still splits it). You also get charged for withdrawing cash (usually around 1.5% or £1.50 which ever is the greater). This charge is a 'Service' charge.

    Service Charges and Interest Charges are not reclaimable - Sorry

    But you can claim up to 6 years of Overlimit and Late Payment charges (even on closed accounts). ;) If you don't have 6 years of statements, just ask them for them using Martins Template Letter.

    They may try and fob you off trying to keep £12 per charge - DON'T ACCEPT! :D Aim for only letting them keep £1.50 (or nothing) and don't forget to add your 8% Statutory interest onto your charges (its far less than they charges you!)
    Got It & Spent It :dance:
    IKEA CARD = £120 charges = £175 received (146%)
    MARBLES = £450 charges = £370 received (82%)
    I.F. = £494 charges = £494 received (100%)
    CAPITAL ONE = £981 charges = £1,489.03 (152%)
    BARCLAYCARD = £580 charges = £786.12 (136%)
    On Hold :mad:
    A+L = £722 charges (target = 147%)
    BARCLAYS = £1,405 charges (target = 128%)
    BARCLAYS = £175 charges (target = 140%)
    ABBEY = £3,220 charges (target = 148%)

    Once again Egg show how much of a terrible organisation they are. I am still waiting for half of my statements that I requested on the 24th May. No-one there seems to be able to help me, and the department that sends them out doesn't even take inbound calls from their own call centre. A very nice girl agreed that the service to me had been terrible, but wasn't able to do anything for me (at least she tried to chase, and rang me back the next day). I have sent them another e message telling them their service simply wasn't good enough, and I would be going to the FO if something wasn't sorted by the end of the week. I think they have probably guessed why i want my statements, so are hoping i'll go away. All they are doing is p***ing me off.
