    Hello everyone!

Today I officially bought the house!

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice (especially regarding mortgage retentions and repossession properties).

I was supposed to exchange and complete yesterday but the CHAPS payment didn't go through until this morning...But, I got the keys eventually and subsequently spent about three hours hacking away at wisteria!!

I expect you will now find me over on the DIY boards now but thanks for helping me buy a bargain!

Dear MSE-ers (especially those who have helped me),

Just thought you might be interested to hear that I am MOVING IN this weekend, having done sufficient renovations to make the house habitable! :j

This has included rewiring the whole house, plastering, fixing the roof, installing new radiators and boiler, fitting new kitchen, replacing rotting joists and putting in new flooring, fitting two bathrooms, replacing back windows and cutting in a new back door (to the requirements of building control, of course!), insulating the loft and any plasterboard walls we could, decorating (this has actually nearly killed us), fitting a carpet in the bedroom, filling six skips, putting up dog proof fencing in the garden and finally glossing the risers and treads of the stairs ready to put back the red carpet and polish the mahogany hand rail!

I think five months is pretty good going - we still have heaps to do (one room still has no ceiling) so no time for complacency, but we are about to reach the end of my budget, so it's time for a pause. Plus my other half is nearly dead :rotfl:!

I also received an offer on my little house at the weekend so fingers crossed that will sell (and improve the budget situation!).

And, we will need to decorate another bedroom in pink or blue before the summer!

I think I require a change to my signature,

Well done and thanks for updating. It's wonderful that you've managed to bring one of the Avenues houses back to life, that's a particularly beautiful example and deserves to be cherished.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
