Well Panny is baking as we speak :) I put all my ingredients in set it up and pressed start... spent about a minute just looking at it then shouted "do something!" at it... I gave in and opened the lid and saw it was mixing already! It was just so quiet compared to me old one that I thought it wasn't doing anything at all! So very chuffed so far! It does say to use strong flour and not normal plain stuff... well I've never bothered with strong flour before in my old one... Just tesco own, but not value stuff... will this make a difference? :dunno:

Yes nanny ogg definitely rules :) I have all the TP books too, but this one has me in stiches... just trying to decide what I should try to cook first :)

Got my slow cooker but insisted I needed it earlier, did get a electric knife which may not be OS, unsure, but it's helping so much with cutting meats etc making it easier for me to cook things from fresh. A jewellery box so I can organise my jewellery instead of it being left all over the house, inc in the kitchen on the spoon hooks. Ok there was a diamond and gold necklace in there too :)

Have got some money aswell, as I want a few things inc a new frying pan and some more tubs (bought today) and want to et soem cookery books etc.
One day I might be more organised...........

My kidz didn't get OS pressies but they did have their gifts left in these velour, reusable sacks that I made for them about 5 years ago, and they are still going strong. On the front I appliqued a Christmas tree and on the front and the back has their initial in a spriggy holly leaf fabric.

I think pretty much all my presents were OS this year with the exception of a four piece dinner service from some good friends.
    A four piece dinner service?

Was it a large plate, a small plate, a bowl and a cup, or just four matching plates...

    ;)
  • I got The Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking in hardback by Marcella Hazan (to help me learn to cook) and a Tefal combination slow cooker/steamer/rice cooker.

tine - don't know what program you were using on Panny but on the basic programmes the machine "rests" to start with as it is gently heating the ingredients to the best temperature for bread-making. It says "rest" in the display window. So no, it won't do anything for half an hour or so. I'm convinced this "rest" is a big factor in the success of the bread I make.

And I agree, it is quiet when it is working

Oh - and to get back on topic, I got a mixture of OS and indulgent goodies. I'm intrigued by the poster who said they got a trolley dolley - I thought that was slang for an air stewardess!

I used the rapid one and it didn't wait at all before kneading :) It simply was just so quiet compared to my old one that I really didn't think anything was happening :) I had to open the lid to find out it was already kneading :rotfl:
