I got so much indulgent stuff I would be ashamed to post it on here but the best has to be the Jigsaw caddy that my DD1 bought for me. I haven't been able to do jigsaws for years because I have nowhere to do one where I can keep it away from DD2's interfering little hands.

Yesterday I got a length of chinese silk brocade embroidered with dragons in a lovely milk chocolate colour which I've decided to make into cushion covers. BIL's girlfriend brought it all the way from Beijing for me, so it's now become my New Year project.

DH has a running list to work from every year, something to listen too (I got Sheryl Crows greatest hits) something to watch (I got CSI season 5, CSI Miami season 2, and seasons 1 - 4 of Monk) something to read (I got Wintersmith and Nanny Ogg's Cookbook) and something smelly (I got two boxes of Lush) so all my needs were met this christmas :D

DH has promised that the carving set is only the start of my new Sabatier collection.

  • :j I have a new slow cooker - mine broke down 3 mths ago and was sadly missed. Though I must say my broken one was owned by my grandmother and I inherited it 5 years and my grandad had bought it for her and he passed away 16 years ago so it was probably due to go to SC heaven!:D

 I also got 2 new cookbooks: Cook with Jamie and The French Market, a pack of 3 kinds of Olive Oil, a large basket of useful food which my MIL had put together for us (had things like tea bags, baked beans, marmalade, tinned fruit etc.)

:o I did however receive a chocolate fondue set ........not really my kinda thing and it's actually sitting in the back of the pantry next to another chocolate fondue set I was given last year!!

My kids got socks and pants among other things as thats what they wanted (bless 'em) as well as selection packs which I think are pretty OS in a relive your childhood xmas kind of a way;)
OH got me clothes from Laura ashley and debenhams (methinks he thinks he's married Audrey Hepburn) So i will look like the true domestic goddess I am in those things. He's just bought a Dyson but that's not a xmas pressie - he wouldn't dare! Thats a present for the house :)
I got OS things for other people - a little SC for mum (she lives alone) and a pasta maker for OH, along with other bits and pieces.

I got Nigel Slater - The Kitchen Diaries as my OS pressie. I've marked several things down as must dos. First up is grilled mushroom sandwiches (think burgers only with big mushrooms instead) mmmm.

  • Almost everything i got this year was O/S mainly because i've been bitten by the bug but was unable to afford to buy my own bread maker, slow cooker etc and family members/friends knew this!

I got a slow cooker, bread maker, hand blender, lots of herbs that i'll be planting later, a copy of Thrifty Ways, knitting needles and tonnes of wool - now just need to learn how to knit  so i was a very happy bunny yesterday!

I got so many smellies (secret santa at work, cousins i hardly ever see, brothers girlfriends etc) i'll not need to buy any for months which will save some much needed pennies! :D

    I got a Kenwood Chef and 3 attachments...lucky me :-)
I've lusted after one for years.

There were other very non OS pressies as well....

OMG! You lucky thing. I have lusted after a Kenwood Chef for the last 18mths, just can't justify the £300+ price tag. My grandmother had the same one my whole life. My mother is still using it now 30 years later (which obviously brings the lifetime cost down so it could be MSE - does anyone know if newer Kenwood Chefs last as long as the old ones?).
If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!
  • I did'nt get any os pressies but think the ones I got were quite sensible ds1 and dil got me sensible shoes so as I can go out walking (though I cant get them on at the minute as I fell on Christmas eve and hurt my foot and spent seven and a half hours in A & E )ds2 got me a voucher for beauty treatments at local beauticians (lovely) and hubby got me an ipod to encourage me to get up of my big bum and go get some exercise (do you think they were trying to tell me something

I had the Kenwood slicer that I've been drooling over for many months, and also a George Foreman that my DS has been wanting for many months (my mum asked him what I wanted and he told her that... MEN!!!!) He's only forgiven because it was his idea to get me the slicer ;)
