I havent been making cakes for that long but since getting engaged last year and refusing to get into debt with our wedding! I have decided to have ago at making our wedding cake as it will be hopefully alot cheaper! Ive been having ago at making cakes for my families birthdays, here is how my sister inlaws birthday cake turned out, at one point it nearly was an egg with feet but I carried on and am glad I did my OH did the beak the one I made looked more like gonzo from the muppets! What do you think? I know the edges arent as smooth as they should be etc.

Awww thanks i'm quite chuffed with your comments my family are the only ones that had seen them and they have to say that they like them ha ha.

I was going to ice our wedding cake but I struggle getting the cake completly smooth so found someone who is going to ice it and decorate it for £60 for 4 tiers which includes the marzipan and icing, i'm going to make the 4 tiers fruit, I think it will be to much pressure on me if I were to ice it and do a sponge, there will be other cakes there aswell.

Now to plan the OH cake for his birthday, I'm thinking a back to the future cake but not sure if this would be to much hmmm.
