Update from me- just called hsbc to see what was going on with my case and although I sent it out in may they didn't acknowledge it till 17th July!!!!! And because they only acknowledged it then that's when the 16 weeks started! So I guess I have a he'll of a long wait at the moment!
Bit naughty as they should say that in the correspondence!
Did you get a reply from them within 2 weeks of putting your claim in saying they had recieved this?,if you did not and you have not had to put the claim in again, then get back in touch with them and tell them if they do not put your claim back to the 14 days after you posted the claim to them, you will put a complaint into the FOS,as they had ample time to let you know they had recieved it.

Naughty? That is seriously extracting the urine...

They sent me a letter acknowledging my claim on 21st July and say it's up to 16 weeks from them receiving my letter.

I dare say they will be dragging all claims out.

bloody hell mrsq2b, THATS HARSH!! I had my acknowledgement of complaint within a week of sending original letter also (like SMTC), them telling you that has put you back to the same position as me and I only started my complaint few weeks ago! They got a cheek aye, I would defo get back on the phone to them and discuss it further, if you sent your letters recorded delivery and you have proof of receipt how can they say they're not acknowledging your claim till 17th July!! where did they get that date from by the way? They can't use being busy as an excuse etc cos as you know I sent my initial letter on the 20th july and had a response by 27th! so there's no delay in sending letters of acknowledgement! guess they just want to hang on to the 7 billion profit (thanks SMTC) that they've made this year so far a bit longer... Grrrrr

    I've never written a letter!

Got sent my account information after phoning hsbc. Then sent three questionnaires off to them claiming money back.

A week after getting this (2 weeks ago today) I got 2 letters back from hsbc one telling me couldn't find evidence of PPI on one claim and the other saying they are investigating the other 2 claims. This letter said could take up to 16 weeks and I've not heard anything since.

The next thing I hear should be an offer.

    hi,

my circs are exactly the same as SMTC, I didn't get much joy when I initially tried getting my loan info on the phone, but then I called back at a different time, spoke to someone else and manged to get the info I needed to at least make a claim - ppi numbers etc, I do not have a clue how much I am owed at this time as I remember my first loan was for 5k plus ppi but I can't remember what my renewal was and TBH I'm not overly concerned in finding out anymore until I here back from them with figures, I wouldn't worry to much about this mrsq2b, they'll get the figures together eventually and send the info to you once your claim has been assessed, your claim is in so I would just sit back and wait to hear from them now. Thats what I'm doing, whatever I get back will be a bonus, I am curious like yourself but we've just got to be patient lol, I'm 2 weeks in, 14 to go!!! xxx
  • Hi Debbie,

Have you heard anything yet? Pretty boring waiting isn't even though you know you will get something?!
  • hi, smtc,

No I've not heard a thing from them yet, I'm guessing you havn't either? I'm not expecting to here anything now TBH until the 8 weeks are nearly up, which is about another 4 weeks for me, from what i've read on here we are in this for the long haul and we'll prob get a letter in 8 weeks saying they need more time, (another 8 weeks) it is exciting tho lol, and I actually look forward to the postman these days lol, few years ago I used to dread it!! ha ha, I've sorted myself out now so as long as the HSBC come good it will be a nice little bonus in my bank, fingers crossed we get our claims upheld xx I will repost as soon as I hear from them, do you know how much your expecting back? I havn't got a clue what I'm gonna get if successful, I had x2 loans with ppi but I can't remember how much my renewal was for, original loan was 5k plus ppi x
  • Hi Debbie,

We are pretty much on exactly the same timescales - you better not beat me!!

It is now 3 weeks since I received my letter from HSBC saying they were looking into it and denying one of my claims.

I think I'm due about £2500 (prior to interest) for the loan which was settled last year.

I'm not sure about the other loan but guess about £5k all in.

It certainly does make it a bit more interesting when the postman comes!,
