Hi,
Yes I did - got sent them by HSBC although they said I couldn't do anything as over 6 years ago.
I'm inclined to believe having read other posts that they do settle those longer than 6 years upon some cases.
Thanks for email. Hopefully I don't need it other than to say thanks!0 -
Nothing back from HSBC yet.
They've had the questionnaires over a week. Guess that's one week down and three to go.0 -
My girlfriend has just been round to my flat and collected two pieces of post from HSBC.
Both dated 21st July
1. First saying they can't find any record of PPI on the managed loan account so they are closing the complaint. This loan was settled over 6 years ago so I can't get the information back from HsBc as they say they haven't got it anymore.
What should I do? Accept this is true or complain? I have no evidence if PPI was taken out but i think it was.
2. The second is a letter acknowledging 2 of the loan accounts and have sent me a questionnaire to fill in. Strange as they were sent 3 over a week ago (1 for each loan taken out).
Letter basically says they will be in touch within 16 weeks.
Any advice on either letter appreciated
Thanks0 -
You need to do the SAR on the one for more than 6 years ago, this will cost you £10 but they (in some cases) go further back than that, posters on here have had info from the 90s,it may be worth the money to get this.
Just ask for all info they hold on you and enclose the cheque or postal order.
The second letter you have recieved has given you the timescale they have to deal with your complaint,is the first loan one of the 3 you complained about? as they are dealing with the other 2 and have given you a response to one of them with the first letter.0 -
Do you still have the account numbers?
If not, some have called directly into their local branch and by using the bank account number - have asked the staff/branch manager to try tracking down all accounts taken out with them.
However, if online banking, this can allow you to go back to about 2002 with most of them and the loan account numbers are generally shown next to the loan monthly repayment.
But as amersall says, you could try by requesting a SAR, but whether or not anything will be enclosed within a SAR from beyond 6 years - cannot be guaranteed, some banks are more lenient than others.
There is a SAR letter template below if you want to do this and tweak to your requirements.

The first loan is one of the three I've complained about. It's almost as if they have accepted PPI on two of the loans and not the other one.
As for the SAR I got the info required by calling HSBC. They sent me the loan account numbers which I used in the questionnaire.0 -

I didn't have the account numbers and called HSbc to ask for them.
They sent me the terms and conditions for the recent loan which showed Id paid about £2k in PPI and a letter saying they didn't have any other information apart from the account numbers as they were settled more than six yrs ago.0 -
So as I've got the account numbers and terms and conditions for the only one of the 3 loans which was settled within the last six yrs I guess I don't need to do the SAR?0
-
You need to sar for the loan that they say they cannot pay you for as it is over 6 years, you may get more details if you do this, you may not,but it should be worth a tenner to see.0

Ok.
I will do SARmwhen get back from holiday.
Strange that they acknowledge the one which was taken out first (graduate) and the last (personal) but not the one in the middle (managed).
That's either because PPI doesn't exist on the managed loan OR because it's the biggest of the 3 loans!0
