Wetherspoon Meals Beware!

Got a great flyer delivered through the door. 2 for price of one (free bot of wine too)and beer at just over £1 per pint with the 'spoons vouchers.
Ate at Livingstone and Perth and both were fine. Cheap and cheerful would sum it up. Not a gourmet experience but the steak was good & bbq chicken was fine. Curries were just as good. No complaints from us.0 -
We ate at Wetherspoons in Altrincham a few weeks ago - it was pretty nice food and very cheap. It was certainly better than the 'Henry's Table' meals we used to go to for family birthdays, and about half the price. Most pub chains use frozen, boil in the bag, or microwave food - they have big folders giving details of how to 'cook' it, present it on the plate etc. I think Wetherspoons is good value - but you were right to complain if your food wasn't satisfactory.0

I've been there quite a few times. The only time I had a problem was when ordering steak as it was really tough. I complained about it and they gave me my money back. Apart from that it has all been fine.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I agree with davsidnipp, the Canterbury Wethers are really nice, especially the West Gate one where you don't have to walk out through everyone elses smoke. Went to the Margate one a couple of times, found they didn't do red thai chicken on Thursdays but went off them when the guy that served us our lunch was the same guy I had seen with his hands down the womans loo 10 minutes earlier  Cafe Des Amis in Canterbury's brilliant, 2 courses fresh quality food and a drink for a tenner, 3 courses £12.50, M-F 4.30 til 6pmStudent loan no more

We Love 'Spoons pubs!!!!
We've found the food acceptable everytime we've gone. They are child friendly, lots of them are smoke-free, and where else can you go and eat out for such cheap prices. It's a great place to hang out - cheaper coffee, cheaper beer and an assortment of real ale. I'd like to shake the founder's hand and say thank you for creating a chain of pubs that are a rare exception to ripoff Britain. Sure it's not a 5 star restaurant, but who cares?!!
Don't know why the OP is complaining so much - he did get his money refunded, after all. If the food is more imporant than the price, there are plenty of expensive restaurants available.0 -

And I paid over £10..00p for both meals, did not use the 2 for the price of one! So for that price I did expect something alot better!
Nobody forced you to choose the more expensive option.;)highguyuk wrote:No, you don't get a drink for that price as well.
Beer & Burger = 3.99, curry club = 5er or so, roast = 6 quidish...All with a drink included.٩(̾●̮̮̃̾•̃̾)۶ __̴ı̴̴̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡*̡̡ ̴̡ı̴̴̡ ̡̡͡|̲̲̲͡͡͡ ̲▫̲͡ ̲̲̲͡͡π̲̲͡͡ ̲̲͡▫̲̲͡͡ ̲|̡̡̡ ̡ ̴̡ı̴̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡̡0 -

stuzhunter wrote:I bet all their food comes from a supermarket/off-the-shelf jar/tin/frozen packet which they can preheat in a microwave before serving you.
I have worked at Wetherspoons and there is definitely not much cooking going on in the kitchenLike with all ready meals you get to know which things survive the freezing/reheating process best - Wetherspoons chilli and tomato-ey pastas are normally not bad.
