    Please note the correct spelling.
I have been a Spoons mystery shopper for a few years now, and give credit where it is due, and criticism the same.
I find tha generally the meals are quite good, but the burgers are to be avoided, they are pre-cooked, and come in chilled, consquently, they end up like pieces of old car tyre, but for value for money, WETHERSPOONS cannot be beaten, unless someone would like to correct me!!.
  • Mystery shopper eh???

I have always had a reasonable meal in Wetherspoons, but the wait is terrible. Considering that everything is apprently part prepared, why do i have to wait 30-40 mins for a burger and chips?
My Uncle alos returned his meal in Falmouth as he said it was cold. So not all good, although I would eat there.

The longer they keep you , the more drinks you will buy (in theory) its a marketing ploy!

The same reason that McDonalds put salt on your fries... make you thirsty , so you buy more drinks. They have a larger profit margin on drinks than food.

and part prepared? its all microwaved!
James thinks worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere

If i help you...Please thank me!

Well, I've never heard of a microwaved salad!!

So far, I've eaten in a fairly high number of Wetherspoon and Lloyds pubs and not been disappointed yet. Perhaps my standards are lower than most peoples, I don't know.

As for the "marketing ploy" - that is so not true!!!! Tut tut!

    I agree!
I was disappointed by a burger meal once - but otherwise 100% satisfaction.:T

I'd always choose Wetherspoon rather than an unknown eating place. Great value, good predictable food, cheap beer  and tea and I have their POIs on my Tom Tom Sat Nav!

Last week as part of my healthy eating, i ordered a Chicken Ceaser salad (it was on the meal deal ).
Usually you would expect a chicken ceaser salad on offer to have maybe one small slice of chicken, but i didn't even get that! i had no chicken whatsoever on my salad.
I complained saying that the 2 meals for £6.99 advertised that it was a chicken ceaser salad, and that i had no Chicken in mine.
The staff just said that as it was on the meal deal there was less (i explained that there was NONE) and they said that as it was on the deal they would not refund.
It wasn't my usual Wetherspoon pub, it was a scary one in Angel with signs around saying keep good hold of your bag and ask for a "bag clip" if in doubt...
    Scary stuff :D

When in doubt over any aspect of your meal, ask to speak to the Manager on duty as soon as the meal is presented to you. Also, the meals on the Twofer deal should be the same size as those on the main or salad menus. There is a certain spec they have to adhere to, and only one spec for each meal.

As for the signs about keeping hold of your bag... better safe than sorry (although most sensible people keep hold of their belongings anyway!).
