I read your reply yesterday and could of posted the following below.
    http://www.consumerline.org/search/?textsize=small&catname=Other%20Goods%20%26%20Servicesitem=Eating%20Out"

"You should not pay for bad food or poor service. Instead, complain immediately to the head waiter or manager. Do not struggle through a half-cooked chicken and then complain afterwards, it is reasonable to give them a chance to put it right. If they do not put it right and no compensation is offered after you've complained, reduce the bill by what you think is a reasonable amount, pay the rest and leave your name and address."

I've simply said you must take it up with them first, not do what you suggested and leave leaving conact details. Your post mentioned nothing about giving them a chance first.

I didn't due to the fact I didn't want to waste anymore time with you. It's clear your the one who is most interested in being right. As for talking about character I could start talking about self awareness!

I only write this as you've made an incorrect assumption as to why I didn't reply this time.

I imagine you'll reply again to how your right. I don't intend to reply, please don't assume it's for fear of being wrong. In my head I'm sure I'll pick up on bit's I disagree with. But I won't reply, because you would argue forever if you could. This is the reason as to why I won't reply to a future post/didn't reply when I read your post yesterday.

So for the next 'I see uktim29 hasn't come back' You'll know why

uktim29 I clicked on the above, and its come up page not found?

Ok don't reply, and this will be my last reply, but your refusal to see the facts is staggering

"But they did refund you your money,
not everywhere today does that, most argue back and tell you to lump it."

"Under those circumstances you should leave your details bla bla"

It is patently obvious the OP (the person I quoted not mealornomeal) Was referring to a situation where a complaint had been made and they were told to "lump it".

I did refer to making a complaint indirectly by saying "UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES" nothing I said risked being charged with theft, IMO - IANAL.

Just got back from our local Wetherspoons. Two 8oz sirloin steaks, medium rare, cooked perfectly, with chips and salad, and two 175ml glasses of reasonable house plonk - £16. Friendly staff. Smoke free. Unbeatable.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
  • My son used to work in a local Wetherspoons and we regularly eat in their Lloyds bar locally. The 2 meals for £5.79 is amazing and good value. Some of their meals include a drink too.

HOwever, unless you order something that needs to be fried or grilled (chips, fish, burgers or steak) you will get something that is re-heated in the microwave and then grilled to brown it.

We find them good value and if you just want something quick usually they are very good. We ate at the Wetherspoons at the Birmingham NEC recently and were quoted and hour but they actually came with the food in 20 mins (albeit the wrong stuff but we ate it anyway as it would have been up to another hour before we got what we'd actually ordered!).

    Overall I would recommend them.
  • Our local Wetherspoons in Harrogate is pretty good. I think you get what you pay for. I wouldn't eat their sausages as I am a bit funny about cheap sausages. However their bacon roll for 99p is really good. Also their fruit and organic yogurt is usually great. (Sometimes the banana is a bit squashy for my liking!) I think their breakfast menu is well worth a try. Coffee and hot choc always good too. Totally bargaintastic and really quite acceptable. I'm super fussy too!
  • I had the most gorgeous Lasagne there yesterday - better than when i went to Franky and Bennies and half the price
  • I have to say that I have eaten at many Whetherspoons', and had many many many good value and equally good standard and quality of food. There have been the odd occassion when things havent been as expected, but usually a polite word to one of the team has resulted in the matter being rectified.

For a chain of pubs that can offer the amount of choice as they do on their menus, it is reasonable to expect that most things are frozen meals cooked to order.

I guess a lot depends on the management team - as they are the ones who have total control of budgets and ordering. So if they run out of things regularly, then someone isnt doing their job right.

My fave place to go with OH was about £100 for two, but if you only go twice a year as we did it is cheaper than going to wetherspoons every week, and a lot more memorable.
    Pay peanuts you get monkeys...;)

OMG £100? No wonder it was memorable

I've eaten in three of the weatherspoon's in Norwich and one in London. You don't get a monstrous obesity-causing amount of food for the 2 for £5.99 deal but for that price I wouldn't be expecting them to pile on the European food mountain.

The lamb shank they serve is excellent and I can't help but choose it most times I visit. The currys are nice. the staff always come up to us halfway through a meal and ask us if everything is ok.

Once we had to wait along time for the food to arrive but it was obvious from the sheer amount of people in the building that they were extremely busy so it was to be expected.

The only other times I've had anything to complain about was when I couldn't bare to stop and eat because there were lots of smokers making the air extremely smokey, dirty and unpleasant :(

After this happened on a few occasions I emailed Weatherspoons and I received a very nice letter thanking me for bringing it to to their attention, apologising and telling me that they would look into it.

But this problem will thankfully and finally be resolved come Summer. I am sooooo looking forward to all the weatherspoons being smoke free this Summer YAY! :T

My biggest gripe about Wetherspoon's is that when we asked to run a tab, as we were going to be eating, they wanted to take my credit card and keep it behind the bar! No way, I paid cash.
