Wetherspoon Meals Beware!

  • I've found my local Witherspoons (Ayr) to be great, especially for a couple of students, lol.

I suppose some places are hit and miss, and it depends what you eat, though. There's a lovely restaurant in my town, and they usually do amazing food, but their Sunday Roast leaves a lot to be desired. Vinagary mash, FAR too tender meat.

My biggest gripe about Wetherspoon's is that when we asked to run a tab, as we were going to be eating, they wanted to take my credit card and keep it behind the bar! No way, I paid cash.

I havent found anywhere that takes tabs since chip and pin has been brought out

I know this is a little off topic, but... I am going to Ayr in June (a complementary stay at the Ramada from previous complaint) and wonder if you can point us in the direction of places to eat? I have been reccommended a place called Smiths which is apparently next to the Ramada? We are going to the races on the Saturday, so any cheap place to eat would be great. Is the weatherspoons near the racecourse?

On another note, I highy reccommend the "Kirky Puffer", wetherspoons in Kirkintilloch. Staff are always seem to be hard working and helpful. I tend to order the Steak Night for £5.99 or whatever it is. On the odd occasion I will have something else, but it is a bit hit and miss as to whether it has been over microwaved! :rotfl:

I've never found one that doesn't, before or after C&P, as long as you are having food.

When you go for a meal you ask to open a "tab" so you can pay for it all at the end.

If you're eating, you can put it on your plastic, so it makes sense to save the whole transaction till the end, just like in a restaurant (er, that's the only way in which Wetherspoon's are like restaurants!) ;-)

(why would you want to stay in Ayr? :rotfl: )

There's an irish pub just opposite the bus station (just opposite the place that the buses leave the bus station - the name escapes me now, but I'll get back to you), good food (apart from the Sunday Roast), and it's all BOGOF.

Unfortunately the racecourse is a while away from anywhere, it's right beside Tesco, but it's quite a walk to the town.
