  • Oh and I take back what I said about Witherspoons in Ayr. Ate there last night and the food (pasta and meatballs) wasn't properly cooked, took it back, it took 20 minutes for them to reheat it, by the time I got back, OH had finished his, and some of the pasta was inedible.

Just want to say that I visited the food factory that supplies a lot of food for Weatherspoons, as well as some other high street comanies, and have found the company to be excellent. Any problems with weatherspoons food will probably be due to their handling of it as opposed to the food itself.

A firm but polite letter to Weatherspoons complaints department has usually landed me a voucher for a good few quid in the past, but I fear that Weatherspoons reputation is taking a turn for the worse.
Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!
  • (why would you want to stay in Ayr? :rotfl: )

There's an irish pub just opposite the bus station (just opposite the place that the buses leave the bus station - the name escapes me now, but I'll get back to you), good food (apart from the Sunday Roast), and it's all BOGOF.

Unfortunately the racecourse is a while away from anywhere, it's right beside Tesco, but it's quite a walk to the town.

I want to stay in Ayr as we had previously stayed to go to the races and had a complaint at the accommodation and were offered a free stay. So we have taken the free stay. Not alot to do in Ayr I know but I as I said we are going to the races and seeing as we do not live near there it would be easier for us to stay the night.
  • Most pubs that you go into have the same kind of meals, its not exclusive to Wetherspoons. So, who's copying who? And to Artycards - the customer services letters make no mention of sending "inspectors" in or sending the staff on training days - take it from one who knows. So, if you are going to paraphrase, at least try and get the main gist of the letter right, eh? Yes, they do send mystery visitors in (I've been one many a time, and never had a bad meal in over 60 pub visits). And if you do have a complaint, raise it with the Manager, not the staff - the Manager is the one who can put things right.

Yes, you can't beat calling someone a liar on your first visit; you can only get better after that!

In any event, Artycards never mentioned a 'customer services letter', so I reckon MaisieMiss needs lessons in paraphrasing as well....

Perhaps if she runs back to her bosses they'll explain it to her ;-)
  • Recieved a letter today regarding the cold food, no vouchers included but a promise that they will send mystery shoppers in and talk to the staff.

dunno about wetherspoons but the beefeater across the road from my work always asks us if we want a tab open even if we are paying just for a bottle of wine and no food
  • Every year it is the same 'hide & seek' game looking for cutlery. Why? Sadly it 'vanishes' from Freshers Week onwards (for a while) when our community swells with the students. This is the explanation given by the local managers.

i see, i just pay when i order the food

and then pay for your drinks everytime you go to the bar. with a tab you don't have to you just settle up at the end.
