Just being picky and no offence intended but, why don't you go by your ebid name on this forum? Perhaps soolin chooses to have different names on different sites/forums as you have done?

This isn't a selling platform so I don't think I need to use my eBid ID here.

    I am 'moonwitch' on eBid

my ID on eBay is the name of my old store on eBid and the name I use here is the name of the website I used when I worked in retail.

No it isn't, I am not Soolin, Soolin is a character from a BBC TV series, I merely use it on MSE as it is easy to type.

I always suggest to all users that they keep each part of their online identify seperate, never use the same or a similar pseud on more than one site. I follow my own advice, there are no two sites or forums that I ever use the same ID for, not even ebay and Ebid.

Thanks I just googled 'Soolin'...just goes to show that I'm not too old to learn new things:rotfl:

Also thanks for clearing that up about the different IDs.

I tend to use names that are kind of linked on various trading platforms but different ones on forums.

people checked out what soolin was saying and quite frankly i dont belive a word she says anyone with her attitude who started the attacking (witch you failed to point out) i have pointed out why i dont belive what she says in previous posts, do you really think anyone is going to tell you what sells well were! can you not do your own research? have you not confidence in your own wares, do you not have a list of customers? can your budget not stand subscribing to a new site,? i mean how much hand holding do you need>?

I think you are missing the point. Time is a valuable assett when you run your own business, as a sole trader. I don't have time to spend hours searching on ebid just to find out who is right and who is wrong (mainly because my comments have been about the behaviour of people on this board, not about the validity of ebid as a selling platform).

I'm not looking for ideas on what might sell on ebid so that I can jump on the bandwagon, my business is building up very nicely in my specialised niche area.
It's quite normal for people here to share information, provide links etc, we all do to help answer a query or to prove a point.
TBH anyone who is trying to prove a point without being prepared to back it up with evidence is not taken seriously here, so don't take offence if your word is not enough to demonstrate how good ebid is.

Perhaps you should declare your user id on Ebid, then you might actually sell something there;)

Why would that make a difference?

If the traffic is there from buyers then they would sell...especially if they sell similar stuff elsewhere.

My own view of eBid is that it was a 'second' in business..and that is one of the reasons why (in my view) the site can be an alternative to eBay but not a direct competitor.

I was being tongue in cheek, given that the assumption is that generally ids aren't given out on here and other forums as auction wreckers would possibly strike. Given the amount of vitriol targetted at Soolin on here, posting her Ebid id would no doubt generate a few sales, whether they paid or not would be another story.

Well having reread, there were negative comments based on experience. Soolin has never said that no one sells anything on Ebid, just that she has not, when she has sold on Ebay and Amazon. I don't think any rational minded person would say that there were anything approaching "attacks".

"If you have plenty of time to waste then give it a try. "

I'm probably one of the only people on here still stupid enough to be sticking with ebid purely because I am running at a loss on there and refuse to give up until I have at least earnt back enough to cover the lifetime membership I paid. My sales so far in total have not covered my lifetime subscription.

I joined about 8 years ago and I also bought a lifetime membership. I currently have 4 shops with prices lower than ebay, and in all that time I have sold 10 items. It is the biggest waste of time and effort I have ever come across.

i think that post goes a tad more than a opinion not only does she surgest you should only go there if you have time to waste, emplying people are stupid along with her self if they stick with ebid saying its a waste of time and effort, sorry my self and others have said this is not true, you also fail to read in prevoius posts by myself i have pointed out she has a axe to grind with ebid she has been attacking ebid for years its just not one post or a couple of opinions shes relentless will keep comming back to a thread to drive home her so called opinion check out her other posts about ebid if you can on this site, i really do not belive a word she says

I am now horribly confused. So are you saying my name *is* Soolin and i make hundreds of sales on ebid and for some reason I am trying to pretend I don't...

AS for sharing info, are you saying that on ebid people don't share useful tips? I think that is quite sad, on here we often give advice and you can see for instance several useful threads about car boots with people sharing info. If you check my recent posts I have also advised people to use venues other than ebay for specific items as I do not believe there is a market on ebay for certain items.

I'm also not sure at all why you say I have no confidence in my goods..I am wondering if you are in fact getting my posts muddled with someone elses. On ebay I have an extremely high sell through rate , on ebid i sell nothing. I have also posted on more than one occasion that I have moved away from book sales as my Amazon sales died almost completely last Autumn which means i rely more on my Ebay sales of non book items to make up the shortfall.

As for the post you quoted, I completely stick by what I said. I paid money to ebid for a lifetimes membership and my sales have never even covered that outlay (I started as a casual seller but was advised by forum members to buy a membership as it would increase my sales) . On ebay I list, I sell and I pack and move on. ON ebid I faff around listing, changing my items, removing stuff when I have sold out on ebay and I make nothing. So in my opinion if someone wants to use a site and have a chat and make pretty listings then yes use ebid, if you want to sell items then use ebay or Amazon or Playtrade or even Greenmetropolis.

i belive soolin is the same id here as on ebid i suspect the dormant account on ebid. she never imagined anyone would link back to her.
as the account is dormant its very unlikely anyone would attack it, that would also be very difficult to achive from a member of ebid as generaly speaking its 1 person 1 account personally speaking i would never attack a account of any one what ever they said for the simple reason this brings the whole internet e-commerce system into disrepute how ever i will look into some one account if i suspect there up to no good

I wish I could get my 50 quid back I spent on ebid membership.

    I had hundreds of quality html listings running for months with barely a sale to show for it - it was truly a waste of my time and money. A great shame as it seemed to promise so much but the hard facts are that hardly anything sells there, the ebid forums are full of threads bemoaning the fact that;
''I have had my listings running for months with no sales, what can I do?''

The ones that really make me laugh are the threads that say; ''hooray, I have finally made a sale after 7 weeks and my fees are only 2p so up yours ebay''

Hate to think how many sales they might have made in the same period on ebay - they seem to miss the fact that although the fees are much higher they will make sales and have something to show for their efforts.
