I've just had a search on completed listings and not much sells on there in the couple of categories I looked at, ones that I know sell well on ebay.
Without buyers they aren't going to attract more sellers.
I don't know if I'm being stupid but can you see whether an item has a bid from the main page or do you have to click each listing?

All my ebay listings rank highly in Google Shopping.

Where did I say Google is a selling platform?

    Let me rephrase it...

A lot of ebid users always speak about ebid listings being visible in Google Shopping as though it is some sort of Unique Selling Point and an improvement over ebay.

I was just pointing out that ebay listings also appear in Google Shopping and that it is not unique to ebid.

only certain shops appear on google your post was misleading without the facts what you emplied about google and ebay was wrong

It's nice to know that some sellers are making it work. However if anyone comes on here asking where they would get the best price for selling something online and the likelihood of it selling then Ebay would be the answer.
The seller who sells chess pieces on Ebid seems to have the right idea, if Ebid were to market certain specialist areas that they do well with then they could build on that and people offering advice on here could point them in that direction.

i sell in a specialist area price is certainly not my main concern nor my customers i often sell more highly than a similar item else were on the net .

ebid are not biased to certain specialist sellers although i take your point, the site is set up for anyone to specialise in there stores witch is reflected in the cats, the chess piece lady is a good example of a good seller on ebid who took advantage of what ebid has to offer and in her case got established in a market place with very little competion
  • thank you for posting this
I'm glad to see that there are posters there who can see that people have come here to launch a personal attach on anyone who disagrees with them, and they have been hunting for them on ebid as well.
I'm also glad that someone is not happy that ebid's reputation is being thrashed on this forum by the very people who are trying to defend it.

It would be good to have new posters who can contribute to a balanced debate :) (I'll be nice to you, I promise, I'm usually the one who shoots new posters...)

I would be interested to hear what works on ebid, what items sell well, what people have done to get good sales.

people checked out what soolin was saying and quite frankly i dont belive a word she says anyone with her attitude who started the attacking (witch you failed to point out) i have pointed out why i dont belive what she says in previous posts, do you really think anyone is going to tell you what sells well were! can you not do your own research? have you not confidence in your own wares, do you not have a list of customers? can your budget not stand subscribing to a new site,? i mean how much hand holding do you need>?

For crying out loud. Mention Ebid on this forum, and it starts looking like Fight Club. This is a forum for discussion about auction sites and all opinions are equally valid. But I have to say - I am SO put off using Ebid by the behaviour of its so-called supporters. It is an AUCTION SITE not your favourite football team. If someone finds that their sales are carp on Ebid, then they can say so, and it does NOT mean that you are being personally attacked. It is someone's opinion, based on THEIR experience. Why not have a rational discussion about your experiences instead of this ridiculous and childish overreaction?

I repeat - it is the posts by people supposedly supporting Ebid which make me never want to go near it. This is the most destructive bit of fanboi-ism I have ever witnessed.

    Hi Guys,

I am a member on both sites, private and a business venture. My combined feedback on eBid is 635, feedback on eBay is 1590, a no brainer you may think but wrong. I stopped selling on eBid in August 2010 and only started selling again on eBid as a business last month.

I used eBay as they are the largest site to use, in fee's I paid around £17.00 and had no sales and I have an outstanding invoice of £3.60 which is due, so around £20.60 has been paid out on eBay with no sales.

On eBid in the last month I have had 2 sales (not a lot but more than eBay) my fee's were around 38p, thats all 38p!!!!

I have been selling lots of items I no longer need on eBay and making use of the free 99p listings, but that is all the items make is 99p and these can be for brand new items that are worth £10+ which leaves a sour taste in your mouth (I know I should have listed them at a higher price but when you take out the listing fee's and maybe relisting fee's its not worth it, as you would probably end up with less in the long run).

At the moment on eBay I can see my DSRs causing problems to my account, only the postage one's though as it seems on eBay everyone wants you to send items at below postage prices and on a couple of my feedbacks people have complained I have used 2nd class post, but thats what was stated on the auction!

Also with people moaning about the length of time items take to arrive for example auction ends on 1st, buyer pays on 8th, item received by them (2nd class) 13th, I am being marked down because it has taken them 12 days to get their item.

At the moment on eBay I have two unpaid item disputes running, two failed e-cheque payments and both been repaid by e-cheque , I'm waiting for replies from two people who do not have full address details so I cannot post their items (poor DSRs on P+P coming up there) and one person wanting a partial refund on a 99p item because the colour of the item I sold does not match the paint in their room!

Although you do get the visitors on eBay you seem to get more 'picky' buyers who know how to play the system.

With the amount of fees I pay on eBayit just doesn't seem worth it anymore so with that I am going back to eBid which I shouldn't have left in the first place.

Advanced search - a link to the right of the main search box

and I've had 4 items bought while I cooked and ate supper.

eBay is the right place for high value items which you expect to be contested/to sell quickly.

eBid works in a different way - I do well with a strange assortment of random collectables. Others do well by advertising as if their eBid shop were their own website. Yet another group seem to have brought customers with them.

Well having reread, there were negative comments based on experience. Soolin has never said that no one sells anything on Ebid, just that she has not, when she has sold on Ebay and Amazon. I don't think any rational minded person would say that there were anything approaching "attacks".
