My mum had that problem to, I tried everything to get it working. I downloaded another browser and it worked, I compared settings on both browsers etc and couldn't see a difference, even compared it to my own laptop. I spotted she had Raport or Rapport? Installed on her IE browser, I removed this and got straight in. I assume Tesco Bank in their wisdom don't allow the site to run with this software? Might be as they are offering their own version?:eek:0 -

Could that be something to do with it being an 0800 number, they cut you off after the hour?0 -

After an hour and half this evening I finally got to talk to an advisor.
After trying to answer a number of questions, where were you born, favourite this and that, first job etc which I didn't see the point of really, I do now that i've had time to think about it. I was transferred to another person who asked for a six figure number which had to fit their criteria.
After an hour and a half waiting for an answer to the phone, and musak + stupid repition of phrases, my age (85) cut in and I stumbled a bit. Was cut off after putting in an unsuitable number.
Now back to start again. Now had four hours on phone.
Will try again at exactly 0800 tomorrow morning. Did that today still waited half an hour before being cut off.
Must be bedtime. I knackered.

Thank you so much for your quick response.
Yes, as you suggested, the problem was Rapport! Once I removed its protection, I can now access my account normally.
So far as I am concerned, this is another major MINUS for Tesco's "improved" system. Many major banks and similar recommend Rapport to protect users from fraud, and I have had it on Tesco Bank and all my other sensitive sites for a long time with no problem.
Now, I have had to remove that protection from the Tesco Bank website, reducing my fraud prevention capability. Good old Tesco!
Very many thanks to you for solving my problem so quickly. Are you serious about them "offering their own version"?
 to you.

1, Make sure you use the FREE phone number 0800 7838001.
2. Make sure you ask for compensation for your wasted phone costs and time.
Good luck.0 -

I'm not sure if it is their own, but I'm sure I saw a link for something called Trust Defend which I assumed was similar to Rapport. To be honest I don't use any banks software, my own firewall and AV suits me fine. I'm sure there is a way you can keep Rapport installed but stop it kicking in on certain sites, I had to do it a while back but couldnt tell you how to do it now. Maybe have a look on the rapport website?
I'm pretty happy to let my mum continue without it though, after the guy at the call centre explained how the Flash thing worked for the regular pc, apparently there is no way the file which is specific to you can be reproduced or copied to another computer.0 -

Thanks again. I have only uninstalled Rapport from the Tesco website, as it is possible to have it on some and not others.
NatWest Bank, Co-Op Bank and several others positively encourage their customers to get Rapport protection. And just today, on BBC Moneybox Live, the panel of "experts" unanimously recommended it in response to a listener's question.
And it's FREE!!
Many thanks for your trouble.0 -

Maybe you should look into the Trust Defend software they offer, I just had a quick read about it, it's specific to the Tesco Bank website and looks to block access to other websites and pop ups etc when you are on the Tesco page, actually looks pretty decent. I might give it a go on my mums pc as she like a bit of extra security.0
