Tesco Online Banking Inaccessible

Maybe you should look into the Trust Defend software they offer, I just had a quick read about it, it's specific to the Tesco Bank website and looks to block access to other websites and pop ups etc when you are on the Tesco page, actually looks pretty decent. I might give it a go on my mums pc as she like a bit of extra security.
Thanks for that. I'll look into it tomorrow - bedtime now, brain numb after two long days on hold, listening to Tesco's irritating voice and muzak!0 -
Why is it people like us have to find these things out for ourselves? The Tesco site now says everything is working normally. What about all the people with IE9 who do not read this site? Surely someone at Tesco should have the intelligence to put a notice up warning about IE9? And why doesn't it work? The old log in did.A previous post gave Philip Clarke's e-mail address, I suggest we all e-mail him.
Tesco has now got information about the IE9 problem on its website. The information is too little and too late also not in a place that is easily spotted. It is under "Improving Tesco Banking Online" not FAQs or similar. They could do a lot to cut down the number of callers by creating a fuller FAQ but this does not appear to have occurred to Tesco.

IE9 is not an obscure browser. It has been Microsoft's recommended browser for 3 months. How can the new Tesco system not have been tested with that browser.0 -
I actually do have a house exchange this week, plus a tax bill to pay in July, and it's completely unacceptable. I don't know that much about computer systems, but couldn't they have migrated in stages if they could have predicted that this might happen? I did manage to fill in my new details yesterday, but noticed the 'mobile' number they have for me is wrong. So I thought, well, I can change that once I'm logged in. Got white screen of frustration after that, and now I get nowhere on IE9, even in compatibility mode, and get further with Firefox/Chrome but then it says 'you're not logging in from your usual computer, we'll text you a code to your mobile' and of course, the text is going somewhere into the ether. I tried the phone lines but gave up after reading about six hour waits on here.
What a mess. Frankly a £20 gesture payment isn't going to cut it if I can't access my money to complete on a house and pay the taxman - I don't think this is going to be sorted out for weeks, though I hope I might be proved wrong.0 -

Have been using Firefox for access but tried IE9 Compatibility button this morning. Worked OK apart from after entering my new ID I get the message "There is a problem with the website's security certificate* not recommended to proceed.

Well, I've read this thread with interest - though NOT as a Tesco user.
Yes, its a mess, Yes it shouldn't have happened.Yes I'm amazed they seem not (from what I'm reading here) checked it worked on all common fully released browsers.
Yes they sould have brought in extra capacity to deal with umpteen users all trying do do the upgrade all at once - such is human nature to want to access the new system as soon as its put in place.
However hopefully it has been a good life lesson to everyone caught out.

Things do not always go right
You should make plans for what happens if they go wrong
The more serious the effects of a mishap (ie money needed for house purchase) the more rigous should be your plans for alternatives (ie remove money to somewhere else before the chaos).
This will stand you in good stead when asked by your employer to carry out some project. All project go awry at some point and rapid remedial action is required to bring them back on course: as Tesco have discovered.0 -
For those worry about cookies being deleted everytime they log off, stopping the computer being a regular or trusted one (i can't remember what they call it). The helpful Scottish bloke(thank god they are at least based in Blighty) I spoke to explained to me that it was a Flash based file which remember if it was your normal PC, so would not be affected by deleting your cookies.
I'm now up and running, and although the website is pretty basic it does seem like it will do the job for me. The guy on the other end seemed pretty relieved when I didn't start shouting at him, kinda feel sorry for the poor sods at the front end who need to deal with all the moaning, when it really should be the big money makers who are taking the flack!
Flash file or Cookie, makes no difference - I still get the message saying I am not using my regular computer and can't log in cos I did't register a mobile phone number to receive the temporary PIN.
Leaving Tesco Bank as soon as possible - sadly that looks like it could be a while.:cool:0 -
Yesterday, I final got it all working and sorted. Today, I went to log in and put my unique ID in, and it wasn't accepted. "Ring the number!" it says: "not again!" I says- I can't take more of being on hold on a phone for hours.
Anyone else had this problem?0 -
Eventually got through after spending in excess of 7 hours on the phone over the past 4 days. However I will still have to wait for the temporary PIN, that could take up to 10 days to arrive.0

I agree, I think the cookie thing is a red herring, it's probably yet another glitch.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

That's all true and sound advice. However it does not excuse Tesco one iota for the shambles that they have perpertrated. Even customers who might have had contingency plans in place would be well advised to think long and hard as to whether they want to continue to deal with an organisation that would treat them like this. I did, I have, and I'm out.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
