Tesco Online Banking Inaccessible
Comments
-
I just emailed this guy Clarke and asked him to contact his customer services staff (pretty sure he will be able to) to close my account !!
Not really expecting him to do it but at least he gets the message !!!0 -
Could not access Tesco online banking using Internet Explorer or Google Chrome - Screens are blank or no response from clicking buttons.
I used Chrome about an hour ago to logon for the first time since the changeover.
I had no problem setting up the new User ID and security questions and got into my account with no problems.
Tried a faster payment of £1 from Tesco to my linked account - arrived instantly.
There seems to be no particular rhyme nor reason for the problems.0 -
Update from yesterdays post # 52
After Tesco trying to send the £29K yesterday via 3 x FP's and having failed me, they told me that they will send it first thing today via Chaps Transfer to my HSBC account.
Today I waited till 11am and the money had still not left my Tesco Internet Saver, so again I had to call Tesco Bank, made call @ 11.10am kept on hold until 12.13pm, explained that I was expecting the £29K to go out to my HSBC account first thing this morning and its now midday and the money has not even left my Tesco's account. Call handler went away to find out why it had not been sent out as promised first thing this morning, after 15mins she returned to tell me 'they didn't know what account number and sort code to send it to' to which I just had to laugh at because they had my linked account on their records and already sent part of the payment to this same linked account. She said that is the reason why the Chaps payment was delayed today, to which I asked her if they really had tried to send the payment out before I contacted them why could they have not called me to ask me the account details I needed the money sent to, to which she replied that she didn't know why they had not tried to call me. So I again had to give her my sort code and account number. She said she would get the Chaps payment made and call me back to confirm payment has been sent.
After about 15 mins she did call me back to say the money has been transfered to my linked account via Chaps payment. Just before 1pm this afternoon I logged in to my Tesco' account and it was showing a Chaps payment of £29k had gone out of my account today.
I checked several times this afternoon but the money had not been credited to my HSBC account.
So AGAIN I called Tesco Bank @ 5pm to query exactly where had they sent the £29k to? As when I go online I can see the money having left my Tesco account but there is no way of seeing the destination it has been sent to, after approx 40 mins I got through on the phone, could not get hold of the lady who has been dealing with this issue so again had to explain everything to this other woman, she went away and after 10 mins she said she had spoken to the manager who had told her that outgoing faster payments had been delayed today for most customers, again I had to remind her my payment had been sent via Chaps not FP's. I then asked her to look on her system to let me know what S/C and A/N the Chaps payment has been sent to? But she said she did not have access to that information but added that the payment had been sent to the same account as Tuesday's 3 x FP's. She also said the manager had told her my Chaps payment would be in my account in next couple of hours, how he knew that I don't know, but seems from my experience over the last couple of days is that - each time you end up calling them up they pull their finger out and actually try doing something about it for you! So if I had not called them up today the money would still be sitting in my Tesco Internet Saver account.
While I have been writing this post (one finger typist!) I checked @ 6.10pm and the £29K Chaps payment has finally landed in my HSBC account, thank god for that!
(I know ais a strange thing to see on this thread, we are more used to )
Good luck to all of you who are also struggling to login to your accounts or trying to get your money out of your Tesco accounts, I hope you manage to do it soon. The last 3 days have been very annoying to say the least.
Hope they will eventually get these glitches with their new site sorted out soon as its a shame because the old Tesco website was OK, especially the speed of their FP's (Bacs paid out to linked account in 2 days!) going in and out of your account before the [STRIKE]upgrade[/STRIKE] downgrade.
Reading my long post is just about as bad as being kept on hold when you have to call Tesco Bank (reading material while on hold to Tesco's!?)
Good luck all.
Edit: ANGLICANPAT - Hope you managed to get a result with your withdrawal request, just so you know they can and should do a Chaps payment for you because they did it for me today FOC after keeping me waiting since Monday.

The 'old' version displayed all the payee details, so you select the right one immediately....
I had the same problem, but when you login (presuming you can login) on the left hand side go to > move money > manage linked accounts > amend - and you should be able to change the 'nickname' to remind you who you are sending payment to.
It worked for me when I did it because like you I just had a list of account holders names in the 'nickname' list and was unable to see what account the payments were going out to.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0 -
For those of you who have successfully sent payments out via FP's, can I ask you, did it make any difference in the speed of the funds landing in your linked account if was sent to an account in 'linked accounts' or 'linked third parties'?
I ask because all my linked accounts were moved by TPF to the 'linked third parties' when they done their upgrade and im thinking maybe payments might reach the linked account faster if sent to an account displayed in the 'linked accounts' page?
Unfortunately the site is not letting me put my HSBC current account details in the 'linked accounts' section, all my linked accounts are currently placed in the 'linked third parties' list.
When I try to add my accounts to the 'linked accounts' section, it comes up with a red box saying:Sorry, we couldn't confirm that you're the owner of the account you're trying to add. Please send an original Bank Statement from that account to the address shown so that we can add your account for you -
Tesco Bank, Broadway 1, 199 Renfield Street, Glasgow, G2 3AX
I'm only entering the details that I had as my linked accounts before they done there so called upgrade, so I ain't got a clue why its coming up with message now!Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0 -
Finally got access to my account today after yet another 50 minute wait on hold. Total nearly 4 hours on hold over the past two days.
This might help those still suffering:
1. Use the (unauthorised) free number 0800 7838001. It works exactly the same as the 0845 number. (A caring company would have provided and publicised a freephone number in the first place!)
2. Before callling them, work out how much you have spent in phone calls etc. Then politely but firmly request compensation. Remember their screen says: "This is our fault, not yours." I gather that up to about £20 is granted immediately, larger amounts have to be cleared with a manager.
3. The helpful operator didn't muck me about with Temporary PIN numbers etc. Having checked my account details and security questions, she transferred me to an automated system on which I chose a new 6-figure PIN. Then it was just a question of going back to the log-in page and clicking REGISTER - not Log In - and it immediately linked to my account after I inputted the new PIN details.
4. She should ask whether you need any urgent transfers etc. If she doesn't, make sure you request them before terminating the call.
Hope this is some small help. Good luck - what a dreadful fiasco. I feel heartily sorry for those who need their money urgently.0 -
Tesco has the worst online banking experience ever.
I'm an IT manager, so pretty clued up on how to use computers I'd like to think. The only account I ever have issues with is Tesco. The stupid password rules and PIN lengths mean I have to have everything written down all the time. I locked myself out the other day, and nearly locked up my card reader.
I now need to urgently transfer out some money before I got on holiday tomorrow, I got stuck half way through the registration process and now just get an error. Now been stuck on hold for 20 minutes and have to go out in a minute!0 -
For those of you who have successfully sent payments out via FP's, can I ask you did it make any difference in the speed of the funds landing in your linked account if was sent to an account in 'linked accounts' or 'linked third parties'?
My Linked Account seems to have become a Linked Third Party. The Faster Payment worked to that.Unfortunately the site is not letting me put my HSBC current account details in the 'linked accounts' section, all my linked account are currently placed in the 'linked third parties' list.
I can't seem to add a Linked Account - it either tells me special characters are not allowed or does nothing at all.
EDIt - tried again with Firefox - same message as you got.0 -
Tried a Faster Payment to my previous Linked Account, now designated as a Third Party Linked Account even though it is clearly in my name.
Despite telling me that I wouldn't be allowed to pay in from a Third Party Linked Account, my Faster Payment from my BOS account arrived within 5 minutes. It's normally instant but I can live with 5 minutes.0 -
Cheers jem16 for that info.
I'm on the phone to them now to ask if they can add them on for me their end. Why they could not have moved my already set up linked accounts to the 'linked accounts' instead of the 'linked third parties' I don't know. It would save me having to post bank statements in to them for my various accounts that I want to set up in the 'Linked accounts' section.
Was thinking maybe FP's sent to linked account from 'third party account' list might have to go through more vigorous checks before they are forwarded on but having said that I don't really think it will make much of a difference as you say you sent a FP to a linked third party account and it went through OK (lucky you!). When I tried test payments, it takes over a day via FP's! Yesterdays FP is yet to land in my linked HSBC account.
On the old Tesco website, FP's really were instant, all I had to do was refresh the balance on the HSBC screen!
Oh well I should stop moaning and thank my lucky stars that the large amount of money I have been trying to withdraw since Monday has today been finally sent via Chaps payment to my linked HSBC account.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0
