  • As a follow up - when I contacted the Finanicial Leasing Company they didn't seem to have a clue infact I knew more from this site than them, they even went on about the test case and it isn't even a bank account I'm claiming against. They suggested I could contact the FO when it was the FO that told me to contact them!
So advise to anyone else,if GE say no,and they probably will if they think they can get away with it based on my experience, then court action seems to be the only way forward.
Has anyone has success with store cards through GE court wise?

There has been, and continues to be plenty of success against store cards. They are straightforward claims :)

    Hi everyone

I have started my credit card charges reclaiming, and so far have heard nothing from GE Capital (wrote to them 19th November).

I had three cards with them, House of Fraser, Laura Ashley and Evans, and had all account numbers except the Evans one! However I provided all details so they could track it down.

Its well over the time limit now... and no even an acknowledgment. Whats the next step if they choose to ignor you? Do I send it all again or is there anything I can do to up the anti?

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

  • I'm having the same problem with MBNA, I haven't received my statements or any communication but they have cashed the £10 cheque I sent them. I will try writing to them again tomorrow and see how that goes

  • Hello,

I've decided that 2008 will be the year that I get financially settled!!! So want to start with reclaiming charges.

I've had a Topshop store card with GE Money for about 6 years with spending limit at £150 with £5 per month repayments set up on a direct debit. Occasionally I've had to cancel the direct debit so I don't get a £38 charge from my bank and forgotten to pay the £5 manually so incurred a £12-18 charge from GE Money.

What I want to know is if £12-18 is an unlawful amount? Unlawful enough to start the reclaiming the charges back?

I send them the standard letter from this site requesting a breakdown of the charges over the year and received it within a few weeks.

I was lucky enough at the beginning of this year to pay off the whole balance on the account so don't have the worry of them demanding the balance back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Thanks for the merge!

  • i have received my statement, the first in 3 years... and it says that my credit limit is £250.
I have been paying £11 a month for 3 years and I seem to owe £286.

Im slightly confused. I know that every month I have been paying back £4 insurance which I never asked for, and £6 interest.

I assume they have been charging me for somthing if I owe this much. still. Is there anyway I can tell them it is impossible for me to give them anymore money as I have given £400 I assume over the years for a £250 loan and still owe more than I took in the first place!

Surely there must be some way of saying the charged or the insurance I didnt ask for is unfair. It said on my statemtn that the apr was 00%. Im confused about this also.
