GE Capital/Money

Dear Members

I have used your template & £10 fee to get my list of charges for store credit cards issued via GE Capital. They replied to tell me that they cannot find my financial history for Monsoon Store cards or Russell & Bromley store card.

What shall I do?

Many thanks

Strange, other people have got information back from GE Capital. This is unusual unless you have not supplied the enough/correct information or they are now being obtrusive.

Could they have you registered under a different address?

Do you have anything with the account number on they could use to trace?
  • Dear Nik

I gave them all account numbers etc but their letter states "unfortunately, on our retrieval systems we have been experiencing problems attaining a small number of statements."

Some months are missing from each store card. "They apologise and are unable to provide the information you requested on this occassion."

Maybe I should contact them again?

On Amex- One month I paid an extra amount to Amex of £220, they then began to take that extra amount of £220 each month for 6 months by direct debit along with my normal payment of £96.00. They then refunded the £96.00 each month( which was the original standing order) 5 days after taking it from my bank. Can I claim the interest I lost on this amount for 5 days?

    Many thanks

Regarding GE Capital. I would write back to them explaining how disappointed you are that they are breaching your rights under the Data Protection Act. Under this law, they MUST provide you with your details. Write back giving them a short time limit (one or two weeks), and tell them if they don't provide the info, you will report them to the Information Commissioner. If they don't supply your info after this letter, go ahead and report them. The Information Commissioners office will have to look into your case.

    Amex..............

Tricky. It seems there is a case for claiming the interest, but I can't see it's worth complicating things for what would be pennies. If the £96 was paid out of a current account, the interest rate would have been low (around 5%ish). Working out £96 for 30 days at 5% interest only works out at 39 pence total interest. I wouldn't waste a stamp for that amount.

There are quite a few people on the Consumer Action Group who have successfully claimed back... if you go to the website and look on the forums you can see the success stories. Good luck!

  • I rang them about ten days ago requesting statements and they said I had to write to them but as I had a nil balance they advised me that there wouldnt be a £10 fee. I wrote to them straight away and have now received a letter apologising but I was misinformed and I do need to pay the fee and they said once the fee received they will reply withn 40 days.

I have sent cheque recorded delivery today but they have now waster 9 days. I am not happy.
  • I wrote to GE 30 days ago requesting statements and have not heard anything yet. I sent this RD. Does anyone have a telephone number for them in order to contact them. It was for a loan that i had with them and paid off last year, however i know that there are a number of charges, including the 6 months interest charge they wanted to close the account. Does anyone know if i can claim for this as well.

    Help is needed. Thanks

  • They have 4 days left to comply with sending me statements.

Lamarose wrote to me and said that they have handed this to their "closed dept" and i should hear from them shortly, that was 3 weeks ago.

Has anyone else had dealings with Lamarose Finance.

With regards to G E Capital, i telephoned them today to check if they are sending me statements, and they claim that they did not receive letter. However i sent this recorded delivery and it was signed for. I told the man this on the phone and his reply "take it up with the Ombudsman if you dont like it". Charming attitude!

What should i do now, should i write to them again and give them a further 7 days or should i just simply as he said "take it up with the Ombudsman"?

    Help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Has anyone got any experience with the above banks and how you got on? I can't seem to find any threads about them and I have started off the process on all of them, (got into financial difficulties after being made redundant!!)

Would enjoy hearing how you got on?

    Cheers,
