Can someone give me some advice.
Story so far..... Sent letter to GE asking for £567 plus interest (includes £40 admin fee each month plus £20 returned DD/cheques etc).
They have replied stating that their charges are justyfied. I dont think they are and this is an extract from their letter with regards to the admin fee:
"The arrears admin charge is not a penalty for default but rather is a reasonable sum having regard to the total costs of running our colelctions function allocated to estimated numbers of accounts expected to be in default.
The admin charge reflects the work involved blah blah...... we have established the total cost to the business of collecting missed payments. we then calculated the estimated number of instances and divide by one by the other to provide a unit cost. we then set out fee by reference to the unit cost for the service, in this case for the collection of missed payments."
What i would like help with is.... has anyone successfully claimed this admin charge back? and is it possible to? Where do you think i would stand in a court situation?
Help is much needed and appreciated.:rotfl:"Penny Pinching Winch"

Hi,
I wrote to GE Capital re my Laura Ashley store card account on 16/3/07. I sent a follow up LBA on 1 April 2007. I have had NO REPLY AT ALL!!!!!
I rang them this morning to find that the Laura Ashley line is now an automated info line only. There are no other numbers on my statements.
So, I issued MCOL proceedings against them this morning. I will post again if I hear anything.0 -
what address are you guys using- I have had no response from 2 letters and can't find a tel no, from an original topshop or river island account?0

I've had a reply from GE money regarding mortgage default charges, they say they are legal and not prepared to py them back, anyone had any dealing with them, did they pay up? what sort of defence did they put up, am at a bit of a loss as to what to do next. Do i just send the 2nd standard letter?
Any help really appreciated0 -
Hi,
Were GE the original people the debt was with? I have two accounts with GE - but only 1 was GE finance when I took it our (Mothercare). The other (New Look) was taken over by GE and if this is the case with yours, it may explaine why they cannot locate your statements.
Just a suggestion..DFW #414, MoneySaver, Income Booster

Last week I sent the letter to GE Money requesting back the late payment charges that they had charged into my Debenhams card account, giving them 14 days to reply. Today I received a letter saying that they have received my complaint and that they will respond to it within the next 40 days.
I think this is because I combined Martin's template letter with some more text written by me in the beginning where I was complaining about the fact that after a non-payment last month they contacted me four times in a row asking me to pay asap, which came across as a bit too aggressive as a policy (if not as bullying!).
Anyway, my question is, do they have a right to do this? Extend the deadline and say we will respond in 40 days, not 14? What should I do? Ignore their own deadline and proceed according to the steps that Martin describes in the main article? Help, please!0 -

any advice on this please? Do they have the right to 'extend' the deadline or can I proceed either with a third letter on Friday (when the 14 days deadline expires) giving them one more week or by taking them to court?0 -
Hi all,
After a very long search and trawl through the forums I have started a new thread.
I have received statement details from my wife's GM card account (they even returned the £10 cheque:D ) and am moving on to stage 2 of the process.
My question is this, to whom do I address the letter to? It states on the letter that "The GM Card" is a trading name and style(!?) of both HFC Bank Limited and Vauxhall Motors Limited and that HFC Limited is a member of the HSBC Group.
HFC Limited I presume???
Many thanks

I have also had my £10 fee returned and a reply to my letter reclaiming charges. The address I am writing to is PO Box 3607, Birmingham B1 2XJ, good luck with your claim.0
