I too am waiting for a reposne from GE Money for an old Burton Card account. How long have you been waiting now? Do any of you know what to do if they do not respond to a SAR?

    Time for GE Money
  • good luck guys.

it took over a year for me to get statements from GE under a SAR! The Information Commissioners Office showed no interest whatsoever - other than to say 'we are aware that the banks are very busy and suggest that you allow them more time'..... very useful, a dog with no bite!

GE are still holding out on charges (saying that £12 is fine and dandy) and PPI - my fault for signing the agreement!

If GE cannot supply you with a complete set of records, it would be reasonable for you to make a fair estimate of the charges you think you incurred in the period the missing info covers. A fair estimate would be, say, the average of the 3 months either side of the gap in info.
  • Hi again.

Hope someone can help me again

GE were no use so I went to the FOS. I got a letter today saying they cannot deal with it as I took it out when they were not a member of the General Insurance Standards Council and they have no jurisdiction to investigate it cause it was before 2001.

Any ideas now?? Do I have to take the court route?? anyone else had this problem?

    thanks

I have had the same problem but have been directed to the FLA, Im not even that sure that I can complain to them
  • I went to the FLA. I got another letter from GE saying the same thing. What do I do now? do i go to the courts? and does anyone have any details of court case for an account before the fine in 2005 (eg I opened my account in 1993)

    Thanks

i complained to the FLA throught their website last week, havent heard anything back yet, may send them an email to check they got the complaint
  • Can someone give me some advice please?

Basically I sent a letter 1 to GE regarding a B&Q account. I am claiming £131. they wrote saying that their charges were fair etc etc and that had £24 had been refunded as a gesture of goodwill.

So I wrote back saying thanks for the £24 which I accept as a part payment towards the £131 but I want the rest.

Today I got a letter saying:

Having checked your account details I note that this is a B&Q Homeplan acccount and unfortunately this type of loan acount was not covered by the recent OFT ruling regarding late payment charges. Your previous refund of £24 was done in error and no further refund is offered on this account.

It then goes on to say:

If you remain dissatisfied you should note that we have now reached a stage of deadlock as our internal complaints procedures have been exhausted. You may refer the matter to the Finance and Leasing Association.

So what do I do now? Are they right in what they are saying? Do I take this to the FLA, the FOS or try to pursue it myself?
  • Bump

Can anyone advise on this please?

    Hi,

Its really up to you, The FLA route is free but will take longer, you could MCOL but that would cost. I was in a similar situation and decided to pursue the FLA route, if you are still not happy with the answer they give you can always pursue through the courts later.
  • Well I took this to the FOS who said it was nowt to do with them. I then went to the FLA. Today I got a letter from GE enclosing my CCA. They said that they had paid me £24 and that was what I was getting. They also said as a gesture of goodwill that they would pay me £6.91 as interest.

They say the matter is now closed.

I take it there is no other way for me to pursue this other than MCOL? Doesn't that cost £100? I'm not particularly keen to throw £100 at a claim for £100 which may go nowhere if you see what I mean.

    Any advice appreciated.
