I have tears in my eyes reading this thread.
You sound like a lovely mum, otherwise she would not have told you, and I'm sure you will work something out with your daughter.
(30 years ago, I was working on night duty with a ward sister whose husband phoned at 2am to say their 15 yo daughter had just given birth in the bathroom. They kept the baby, and everything worked out ok in the end).
Wishing you both the best of luck. Love conquers all.

  • This is a really brilliant thread, good luck to you OP but you sound like a fantastic and supportive mother! :)

Just thinking practically here - I would expect to have to go and get your daughter very late. She may feel like being at her friends now but when the lights go out she may feel quite different when she is alone in the dark. Keep your phone on and by your side and keep the lines of communication open.

    Good luck.

OP - You sound like a great mother and I am sure your daughter will do well with your support whatever she decides to do. :T

Some people (a small number thankfully) on here seem to think they have the right to tell her to get it aborted, and that they as taxpayers will be paying for it.

But i think you realise it is her choice what she does, and that not all mothers rely on benefits etc.

Good luck whatever the future holds.

Well illegal sex has occured here, best call the police for starters.
yes that really sounds like the best thing to do to a scared young girl! - honestly some people!

    - unfortunately it happens more and more these days - and the best thing to do is to be there for your daughter - as much as it might be a shock or feel like your daughter has ruined her life etc etc - she is going to need her mum more than ever now - she is probably very scared and worried about how you will be with her- when she returns home tommorow the first thing to do is hug her with all your worth -shes going to need to feel loved n protected bless her - the time for talking and choices will come in a couple of days when the shock has worn off,- i really feel for you - we all want our kids to have a life before children - but it has happend and isnt the end of the world - lots of people have children young and have very happy lives - i hope it all works out ok for you xx

Surely it's not a question of there being anything to gain by a perfectly normal reaction? Most parents would be angry in this situation, even if they were to keep their feelings in check.
I don't think I would be angry with my daughter, sad, worried, disappointed perhaps but angry? No. If I found she had been raped I would be angry with the rapist but not her.

    Regarding the police comments:

Yes the law is the law as they say, but can you stupid people making comments like "call the police" actually go and do your research for gods sake.................................rant over

I'd just be calm and welcoming to her when she does come home, she'l need the support.

God I'm a grown woman and dreading telling my Dad that I'm pregnant :o

  • Given that Dehaani/inahead/dehaan seems to post their vitriol at all times of the day makes me think they're either one of the "benefit scum" they hate so much or are "stealing" their employers' time. What do you think?

So your expert opinion is to turn a blind eye and flout the law.

Just because it happens a lot doesn't make it right.

Good point but I find it more interesting that all 3 are near enough an anagram of each other :)
