You can submit meter readings by using the messaging service within My Account.
Just quote your account number, the date and the reading. Nothing else required.
You will get an acknowledgement in about 10 days.

Incidentally, just looking at my account for this information, I see that only my electric reading has registered, despite it saying it was successful in entering them both on Friday.

How did you tell your electric reading has registered? When I entered my gas and elec readings in 'my account' last week, I got an instant acknowledment after each suggesting it was successful, but revisiting my account since, it still states progress as 'awaiting opening reading'....any clues?

@anglicanpat - the gas meter and electric meter have actually got serial numbers - my gas meter has 6 digits after an "s",electric meter 7 digits. They are actually embossed on the meter faces-also showing on my last available EON bill. Not the same as MPAN etc
Tried to look at the status of my account this am - but most pages unavailable - temporary technical reasons!!
State of play yesterday evening was that electric contract was up and running - Contract tracker page showed green for final stage, but gas was amber, "still awaiting reading" even tho' gas meter reading/date is shown on meter reading page with register code of "Standard" (register code of electricity was "01"). Haven't had any comms. from EDF (Electronic or snail mail) since 11th July; checked with my bank and no DDs set up yet.
Good thing is that EON haven't taken this month's DD - So no need to chase them - had enuf credit to cover final bill with ~ £25 to spare.

Not quite sure if you mean that the electronic message is for direct debit for BOTH gas and electric as one monthly payment? (I understand they start off as separate billing due to different start dates, then after a month or two may be merged into one monthly bill).

Can you not have a word with your bank and advise them which payment amount(s) should be going out to EDF each month and that you don't authorise any different/additional requests from EDF?

Like you say, it may well be a nightmare getting it back from EDF.
Yup, electronic message was for both utilities, single payment of £126 - sent the same day as I received snail mail for electric only - £69-different start dates on the two "letters"!!!!
I'm not involving the bank directly yet - as there aren't any DDs apparently set up then I know it would just confuse the issue!:(

    Oh dear ...
Got an Email - "login to MyAccount to get your latest message and submit your meter reading(s). "
Logged-in, no "latest message" AND the meter readings I previously entered have disappeared AND, once more, I can't enter new readings.

The requested service is temporarily unavailable, due to planned maintenance. Please try later.

When my account was set up in May, it was a few weeks before I could enter meter readings online. Some it wouldn't accept and then it did take some and promptly lost them. The online account does seem to have settled down now, although they still haven't set up my direct debit, despite generating a bill and review of my usage (not sure how they reviewed it as they had no history). The bill said my direct debit was being adjusted by a small amount and I needed to do nothing. So I haven't, apart from putting the amount they should have taken to one side!

As a matter of interest, are your correct bank details for the DD(s) ie sort code, acc.number, shown on the EDF account details page??

Nothing shows, probably as I signed up over the phone, having hit problems trying to do it online.

It seems that the online system is down again, as I'm getting the same error.

Gave my electricicty reading a few days ago, but despite being asked to give my Gas reading, there is still no way of doing so.
