EDF paperwork + cooling off period
Going through Moneysupermarket (Martin's link) last Sunday, I decided to switch from Eon Saveonline3 to EDF Fixed 2014. giving me 12 'cooling off' days to mull it over as it will be 24% increase for me:eek:
However, I am still waiting for the paperwork to come through. Am I correct in thinking the 12 days start from when I applied (last Sunday), and not when I receive the paperwork?
I'm also wondering how good EDF are, as there seems to be a few moans on here lately about contact problems etc. though the comparison site seemed to think they were okay.
Still not sure whether to switch - Eon Saveonline3 finishes the end of October so there will be termination fees as well. Decisions, decisions:(

the 12 days started when you said to eon ` i want to move` - the actual swicth process doesnt start till the end of that time.
and like every supplier you`ll allways hear the bad , whilst the good stories arnt ` vented` by angry of guildford are they
myself? been a happy EDF customer for 4 years - i phone `offpeak` when the hpones are quiet and get through quite quickly , and the ppl i speak to are usually allways helpful and polite; i changed from OS7 to fixed 2014 , but changed my mind and am now going with Fixed Saver V2 (fixed till sep 2012)0 -
Thanks for your quick reply, halloweenjack. I haven't actually told Eon I want to move yet, I applied via moneysupermarket (martin's link), so hopefully Eon won't know until after the 12 day 'cooling off' period has passed.
As I would be going from a cheaper online tariff to a fixed tariff it is quite a hike for me. I did consider the 2012 one but thought Sept prices might be raised for winter - also cheaper to bail out in April 2012 if need be. (I know I'm paying more short-term but am hoping to keep it full-term with the option of cheaper exits if need be).
It's good to hear you haven't had any problems with them, though. Thanks0 -
I thought it was from the date of the letter, should it appear.:money:0

I have had the benefit of speaking to a nice girl at social media who has sorted out most of my issues, The customer service are quite good however waiting 30 - 40 minutes in "off peak" times is terrible, I am going for ScottishPower Direct I don't see prices going up again after these rises to the tune of £120 which is the difference between EDF Fixed V2 compared to SP Direct at my consumption. His Heart Proved He Was A RedSuarez, SuarezWe Bought The Lad From AmsterdamWe Know He's Not a Chelsea Fan.Fernando Torres = El Judas0

Just bumping this to see if anyone knows when the cooling off period begins as I still haven't received any paperwork and it will be 12 days on Tuesday when I applied to switch through Moneysupermarket.
Thanks.0 -

Thanks.
I received paperwork for ours on Thursday after applying on the Wednesday of the previous week. The date on my letter was the date I applied for the transfer online but I did it through energyhelpline for some reason?! I've done my meter readings and requested a new bill already.

I signed online via Moneysupermarket on 8th June - the pack was dated the 10th and received on the 16th; only problem I have is that I've verified my email addy but the EDF site won't let me set up online account which is supposed to be a requirement!!0

I was able to setup my online account as soon as I got my first letter (You need the account number). Can't actually do anything with it yet but I can see in the account details that it says "You switched to EDF on 10/6/11" which was the day I applied on-line.
I suspect E.ON will be informed 12 days after this, so I will go into my E.ON account and enter meter readings and get a bill on the 21st.
BTW, you get two letters & two account numbers ... confused me a lot to start with but they treat gas & electrickery separately.0 -

Now I'M confused - I've had one letter with the welcome pack which says Dual fuel, one account number and gives the agreed DD ££s for both electricity and gas as seperate amounts. Why would they send out a second letter??
I've just tried to set up online access again, but its still referring me to phoneline because of technical problems?0 -
Hmm .. checked again: I've definitely got two account numbers & two DD's, and the amounts for each of them are pretty much what I expected. This is for the Fixed s@ver 2 until Sep 2012.
Having researched on these forums before switching, I gather that while EDF are a good company to deal with, their on-line systems are ..... somewhat flaky!0
