If you go into your account and click on 'submit meter reading' option on the left it comes up with the details. In my case it gave the date of the last meter reading and the reading itself for the electric. The gas details for this were blank despite me submitting both last Friday and it saying I was successful.

Incidentally my status progress is still at amber on 'awaiting opening reading'

Thanks ih8stress. Today I got notification of a new message and request to submit meter readings. Guess what...no message!. I gave them a call at lunch time (surprisingly only 20 mins on hold). He advised I ignore todays email as they already have both meter readings, and to ignore any future communications of this nature! As my account status still shows orange I think I will still submit meter readings again today.

In my web site messages ,"welcome to EDF energy"- the first one for electricity dated the 2nd July says start date 6th July;the second for gas dated the 11th July states start date 14th July.
The problem appears to be that they suggest that they are ready for a meter reading when they are not. Looking back,I only successfully recorded meter readings on these listed start dates but not before even tho' the web site suggests you can input readings anytime.
Even tho' the contract tracker is now "green" for electricity contract live,it still says supply started 8th June, the date I applied for the switch!! (and the gas contract is still "amber -awaiting meter read" !!) Grinding exceeding slow!!
Well I thought things couldn't get more confusing but............. Account online is in the same status as yesterday except its showing a credit of £69 ! as if they have applied for electricity DD;Only problem is that the DD isn't showing at my bank!!!:rotfl:

Checked earlier today and finally I have fields to enter my Gas reading. However, it won't take them unless I also give my Electricity reading, so I gave the same one as before, only to be told I've already submitted it.

How long before they register they've got my electricity reading? I got a confirmation email last week when I entered the reading, but it still says a reading is required online. Scottish Power used to be next day!

Need to submit an electric meter reading, what is the register code? It is my first reading and it says date of last meter reading, and date of new meter reading. Should they be both today's date? Also I have not been asked for my gas reading yet, do I wait until I get the letter asking for it? Thanks

I made the switch to EDF last Thursday and received my welcome pack today. After reading some of the stories on the web, I have been worried about whether it'll be a stressful transfer or not.

It appears that although I requested gas and electricity from EDF, I've only been registered for electricity. I was going to give them a few days as I've seen others mention it can take a bit longer, but, as the 2014 tariff is likely to be pulled at any day, I decided to contact them. The guy I spoke to advised that this was due to my MPRN not being recognised and he advised me to contact Scottish Power for this. After checking Google, I contacted Transco instead, but they've advised me that I am supplied by an independent gas transporter.

After a bit of checking, I've since found my MPRN on the meter, even though the guy at EDF said it wouldn't be on there. Does anyone know if EDF charge extra for an IGT supply, and if so, how much?

    Thanks

I've never had a welcome message, so checked my letters and it mentions the start date on the one requesting a meter reading (missed it first time round).
The two messages in my account both relate to direct debit payments. The first one is for the electric only (on the 29th July), the one received yesterday is for gas and electric. This is also on the 29th July so it will be interesting to see which payment(s) they actually take?

You might as well try it. If you get the following message (like I did) you will at least know that they have them:

"You've already given us a meter reading for this account. You don't need to do anything else until we send your next meter reading reminder"

With EDF it's anyones guess:D However you could try going into your account, clicking on the 'submit meter reading' option on the left and seeing what fields are filled in for your gas and/or electric readings and dates.

Need to submit an electric meter reading, what is the register code? Have you registered yet? It could mean that. When I'd registered my account I just had to input my account number and the meter reading and date of the reading It is my first reading and it says date of last meter reading, and date of new meter reading. Should they be both today's date? Also I have not been asked for my gas reading yet, do I wait until I get the letter asking for it? Thanks

You can try inputting both if you want to. I looked at my 'contract checker page' and when it said 'awaiting opening reading' for both I submitted them.
I've actually only had a meter reading letter for my electric from them - JUST got an email apparently about meter readings but the website is down so don't know if it's for my gas?

You'll probably end up having to submit the gas later (in which case you'll have to re-enter the electric one again, so make a note of it somewhere)

Since I entered the gas reading last Thursday (14th) everything seems to have stopped ie my gas account tracker seems frozen, the meter readings page shows the gas reading, but obviously in some sort of intermediate status; The only new thing ,AFAIA, is that the account balance is showing a credit of £69 - but still nothing showing at my bank!
