EDF paperwork + cooling off period

            Hi brewerdave
We aim to send final bills within 4 weeks of the supply end date.
Most of the time, in the case of dual fuel accounts, this will include accurate charges for both gas and electricity. However, given the amount of data transferred and the number of organisations involved in a change of supplier, delays do occur.
Sometimes, but hopefully not in your case, these delays can be quite lengthy. Therefore, in these situations estimated bills are issued.
If I've read your posts correctly, the electricity left us on 6 July and you received the bill in question yesterday/today. 19/20 days after the electricity ended is about par for the course to be honest. Not an ideal situation, I agree, but there does need to be a cut off point.
When we do re-bill, it will be from the previous correct bill up to the revised closing reading.
I hope this explains what happens brewerdave. Give me a shout if you need any more details as happy to help.

Logged into MyAccount on EDF site this morning - giant forward step!!
Gas contract is now showing as live as well as electricity and furthermore initial gas meter reading has reappeared with correct meter number & date of switch! Only worry I have now is that "register code" for gas is still showing "Standard" (electric shows "01") - will have to wait and see if I get charged at the right tariffs in due course I suppose.
Hopefully the next DD will be on the right date in August for both utilities.0 -

Checked mine yesterday, and found a new message, dated 23rd saying Gas to go live on 26th. It definitly wasn't there yesterday morning!brewerdave wrote: »Logged into MyAccount on EDF site this morning - giant forward step!!

Gave another set of readings, and this time both show up in the 'last reading' section.
Mine also says Standard' and '01'. Also mine still says 'awaiting meter readings' in the summary page, as it has done for the last couple of weeks.
Seems things are progressing, slowly.0 -
good to see some progress on other accounts
, just checked mine & it still seems in a bit of a mess!
there's a new message dated 23.7.11 (which was not there yesterday) asking me for a gas reading & advising a start date of yesterday. at least i have 2 live accounts now as 1 was missing yesterday.
i've input readings from today anyway so at least there's some usage info between the last readings i entered, just in case the dates & readings i've already supplied don't match up when everything is sorted (what do i mean IF, ever positive eh?
)
edit: just went into the meter readings section again, the only readings showing are the ones from today, no sign of the reads i entered from a few weeks ago...
just had a peek on twitter (not that i know what i'm doing on there but i've had success with other companies where the normal channels were failing) & they do appear to have a dedicated CS page with an email contact of Twitter@edfenergy.com - might be worth a punt?0 -
I've just received my final bill from E.ON, the meter readings on it are the same ones I've submitted (Several times) to EDF and the calculations look pretty much as I expected.
The readings still don't appear in my EDF on-line account.
So .... behind the scenes things do seem to be progressing pretty well.
I await with baited breath to see when happens with the DD's next month!0 -

They took money for the electricity account by DD a few days ago, now EDF MyAccount front page is showing a bigger credit figure so I assume they are just about to ask for DD for gas as well. Hopefully they will get their act together in August and just take one total figure.I've just received my final bill from E.ON, the meter readings on it are the same ones I've submitted (Several times) to EDF and the calculations look pretty much as I expected.

The initial meter readings now showing on the meter reading page agree with the figures that EON have got on their "final" bill-so it looks like things are (almost) sorted!:T
Still haven't had any communications from EDF since 11th July. They are very bad at explaining what is happening after virtually insisting that one has to set up an online account to handle things.0 -
We've had e-mails from EDF asking us to check our messages. Nothing there at first then the messages finally appeared. Status was asking for an electricity meter reading but I put it in nothing appeared. EDF finally asked for a gas meter reading and the electricity meters from the second time I put them in then appeared. Still no sign of the gas meter readings I gave them. I also hope I've put the day time rate and the night time rate for electricity in the right boxes as there's nothing to indicate what box they should go in.
Oh and it's asking us to still submit readings on the status page for electricity and gas.
Our direct debit has also gone up from about £56.00 a month with Eon to £86 with EDF. I hope this is just initial teething problems.0 -
I too am having nightmare re switching from Scot Power- meter readings submitted twice and not appearing. I phoned up and managed to speak to a real person- gave them the readings but have now have received another e mail asking for meter readings, and on account status it says , still waiting for readings.
I e mailed them on 14th july no reply.
Tried Twitter, no reply.
In the meantime DDs coming out for both EDF and for Scottish Power
Tried to phone just now, on hold 45 minutes.
Given up

No change to our meter readings page. It still seems to be a complete muddle. Our two electricity meter readings are showing (we're on Economy 7). I still haven't got a clue as to whether they are in the right boxes as there's nothing to say which is the low box and which is the normal box. They haven't replied to my e-mail querying this. The gas meter reading which I gave a few days ago isn't showing at all. If I go to the contract tracker page it's still asking for initial meter readings for gas and electricity.
I'm seriously considering leaving them and going back to our old supplier. If I do, does anyone know whether I have to pay the cancellation fee of £60 seeing as it's impossible to give them a meter reading. I'm assuming our supply with Edf has started as the latest start date we had from them was the 25th of July (we had several start dates given to us).
I've read the meters again today and submitted them via e-mail but I'm not holding out much hope.0 -

It's a shocker. Customer's are trying to do their very best and do the right thing.
This is EDF's core business of supplying electricity.
It astonishes me that they are being allowed to operate and add customers when they don't have the ability, systems and processes to handle it.
If BG got a £2.5m fine what will EDf be in line for?
Why isn't Ofgem on the case? Oh silly question....sorry.;)
When the EDF 'secret agent' contacts you, if she can't get your records straight, ask her to waive the cancellation fee when you switch. If not tell her that the Ombudsman would probably have a totally different view that they should not only be doing that but also be compensating you for their very poor service.0
