  • Paid off my Halifax card last month, and just got an offer of 6.95% fixed for life of balance with a 3% fee. I'm going to see if I can negotiate the fee down a bit, then I can pay Egg back for increasing my rate last month!

Don'T speak to the operators abroad as my experience is they couldn't give a hoot about your account. If anyone wants the number for the UK office let me know.

I have had 0.18 credit on my Barkley card and it's been like that for 4yrs so after your post thought I'd give them a try as Virgin have just stated an increase in interest rates and no joy with them on offers:rolleyes: Maybe i can get a good deal with Barkley card when I call to cancel. Which I'm doing thanks to advice on here on improving my credit score. Then I can cancel Virgin instead:p

UK number if possible Many Thanks

I just got got an MBNA for the life of the balance last year but managed to pay it all off this month. Before cancelling the card I thought I would give them a call to see if there were any offers open to me and was told that I could have a 0% balance transfer until May 2009. I said that this wasnt very long so after being transfered to the retentions team, they offered me the same balance transfer but with no fee! :j Thought I may as well take it and will be putting it into a savings account until May :p

cannot believe how many of you guys are not aware of mbna "deals"

Is this the kind of deal you were referring to rodent? Is it worth keeping the MBNA card for this reason then? As was gonna close the card in May but may re-consider if there is a good reason to.

    Yes, and yes!

6 months fee-free is a very good deal at the current time. I've been stoozing an MBNA run card for nearly 4 years now and have had a constant stream of 6-12 month 0/0.9% offers from them, the best being fee-free and the worst being a 0.75% BT fee (with a smattering of £35/75 capped fee deals thrown in).

Never close an MBNA run card. :D

That's great. Did you have to keep using the card to be seen as a 'good customer' or did you simply pay off the 0% offers, wait a while and then call up again to see what you could get??

Sorry, but its the other way around for me.

The money I save using Credit Cards over Debit Cards pays for at least one night on the lash each month

Most people using credit cards properly never pay any interest
