Hi folks. I recently cleared my balance with MBNA and phoned them up yesterday to see if there are any offers available on my account. MBNA have been increasing my credit limit time and again, most recently to around £12K. I have recently enjoyed a 0% period on the account and make all my payments (+more) on time. I was transferred through to the customer loyalty team only to be told that I could get a balance transfer rate of 5.9%. I have the Platinum rewards card which apparently offers the customer........no rewards. No cashback, no stoozing. Anyone had any different experiences with MBNA Customer Loyalty recently?? A while back I transferred some balances on to this card and have never used it for spending (as per Martin's rules on tarting). This card serves no purpose as Ive cleared the whole balance off to Barclaycard and Natwest. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and then try MBNA again. If there position hasn't changed im cancelling. I don't need £12K of available credit sat on my credit file scaring off potential future lenders. I wasn't really paying attention to how long the 5.9% lasts for as I want cashback or an option to stooze. After all, this is supposd to be a Platinum REWARDS card MBNA!! Incidentally, for those interested, Barclaycard did me a hell of a deal despite me being an existing customer. I cleared my balance with them and called up the UK office (very important!) and said that I was considering leaving. I was put throught to customer retentions who said I could transfer balances from other cards at 0% until the 1st of July 2009. Even better, I negotiated to pay half the normal transfer fee i.e. 1.5%. A Christmas cracker early!! Also of note, earlier this year Barclaycard gave me 6 months of 2% cashback as an existing customer. Dont speak to the operators abroad as my experience is they couldn't give a hoot about your account. If anyone wants the number for the UK office let me know.MSE - The Stig0

This number will get you through to the staff in the UK, but initially you will talk to customer services, not retentions. If you have a big balance on your account I'd be surprised if they offer you anything. The lower your balance the more power you have. Tell them you are considering leaving unless someone can offer you a competitive deal. Hopefully, they will put you through to the Customer Loyalty Dept (retentions). 0844 811 9111 Call between 9-5 when the people in this country take the calls, otherwise our buddies in India will answer.MSE - The Stig0 -
I have got 0% bal transfer for 12 months with a 2% fee on £4200
is this a good follow on offer from Ulster bank?
tried but couldnt get the fee lowered, but did increase my limit from £3000 to £4200.0 -

Looks like one of the better offers at the moment. especially the 12 month duration. From most posts its seems more common to get 6 or 9 month offers with 2.98% BT fee.:beer::beer:0 -

seems to be the std offer ...unless you negotiate fee down to £0 but then period drops to 6mths...or so it would seem
